Also, if you haven't already, don't forget to name your fleet |
Been wondering about that myself & finally decided that the Yaki fleet should be referred to as The Reavers
Also been considering changing the Reaver fleet a bit, losing the Hoshi (it's just a bit too expensive, can't afford to arm it properly & fill it with good fighters), replacing it with Chokaros to carry the fighters & some M6s.
If there are no objections would ideally prefer to use Pirate Centaurs & Ospreys. They're a bit undershielded, but the paint job more than makes up for that. Planning to cost the fleet out as if they're the standard versions (which I'll use instead if anyone dislikes the idea of me fielding pirate ships).
From looking at the PHQ production costs the price of pirate M6s would, if they were sold anywhere, be either the same price or slightly cheaper than the standard versions: i.e. Pirate Osprey requires exactly the same resources & production cost is the same as the Teladi Osprey; Pirate Centaur requires slightly fewer resources & production cost is about 10k cheaper than the Argon Centaur. |
I've updated the fleet list but you might want to add that to your original post as to avoid confusion.
And sorry, rules are rules. If it can't be bought, it can't be used. (With a few exceptions)

Concerning on how the match ups are made (I'll get you a toy yacht for this Techno), here's an idea I'd been rolling around.
Two people aka "The Pickers" (i.e. the leaders) take turns picking random numbers between 1 and 20 (or however many fleets that there are when the deadline hits) with each number chosen by the two deciding the opposing fleets. So if the first person picks 5 and the second person picks 14 then it would be "X" Fleet 5 vs. "X" Fleet 14.
A third person aka "The List Maker" randomly assigns a number of 1-20(?) to each fleet. Once "The Pickers" finish choosing which numbers will face each other then the list dispalying which fleet is which number will be presented so announcements/rounds can begin.
Any good or shall I go back to the drawing board.....with my fleets for XFF II & XFF III.

Sounds reasonable - but I wonder what to do when both Pickers pick the same number

That's what the Chat room will be for.
This would happen for all rounds, except the last round of course since there would only be two fleets left.
......nomination removed by D.S. due to thinking.

Quick question will having duplex and triplex scanners benifit a fleet in anyway?

@Deadbeat_Spinn:
Bad move! I got a fleet listed as well plus I hate chatting. Should be done by someone who just wants to watch the brawl.

Very well and quite understandable, I hereby decree that the three people needed for this must be impartial as to prevent any favoritism or bias, meaning none can have a submitted fleet slated for the upcoming competition.

Great idea Deadbeat but, honestly, I was thinking of assigning each fleet a number (1 through however many) then giving my mom the numbers to pair up. But if you guys want to do it two pickers and a lister then it's fine by me.
And Cpt.Jericho, it doesn't matter if you have a fleet in it as you won't know what number your fleet has. As for your hate of chatting, just think of it as the forum but we're all online at the same time and the page is refreshing automatically for you.
I think we need a fourth person. A middle man if you will. The lister would tell which fleets are which numbers and then the pickers would tell which numbers are paired.

If you have the spare creds, why not?

Plus my provider hates chatting - AFAIK it's not quite possible with my connection.

Fleet list updated.
This competition is getting way more attention than I first thought it would.
Perhaps one day, whenever someone makes a thread that talks about TC and multi-player, they would be directed to the most recent XFF thread.

20x Barracudas with PBG's... meep!
Glad to see we might have a script to build this thing with, too... look like this will be quite successful!
Re: team balancing in a bracket layout. Ideally, you'd want a number of teams equal to a power of 2. (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 etc.) Meaning that past 16 teams, to avoid a weird 3-way battle or automatic victory situation, you'd want 32 teams... which is a lot. Or, you'd need to come up with a way to handle three teams in a face-off.

Dunno, I think imperium3's fleet is a bigger worry......20 Nova Raiders sporting 7 PBG's each.

A three way battle could prove interesting since a given fleet would have to go up against two oppenents rather than one. I'm sure some of us would be more than willing to draw up a second fleet.
Edit: A thought. Assuming more fleets would be needed, how about this. Say we need "X" more fleets, rather than one person draw up a fleet, 2 or 5 people instead draw up a fleet (since it's a 250mil cap). That way each person involved would have 125mil or 50mil (depending if it's 2 or 5) to outfit a portion of the fleet, that way no one player has two or more full fleets flying under their banner.
May have to go back to the drawing board for my fleet. Or at least the Deimos, I have the uneasy suspicion that my PSG platform is going to be the main cause of death for my Solano's and Tenjin's. But I'll have to think on it.
