Capture only ships?

I think I have a list here of everything that can't be bought in shipyards and thus should be capture only. That said, knowing this game it'll have some clever excuse about how some of these are unclaimable. To save myself the eventual headache of trying to get them (and so new players can have a revised version of this list), could you please tell me which of these are unclaimable?

Some of those ships can be bought second-hand as well. Some others don't exist in-game.

iirc, ATF fighters won't bail.

Not sure about kha'ak, but I imagine getting a cluster to bail would be impossible in practice anyway (and you have it listed twice, btw). I think Kha'ak capitals are unboardable.

Yeah, my Encyclopedia has gone kinda weird, there's tons of things listed multiple times.

Argon Starburst: Same as above.
ATF Valkyrie: Won't bail and I don't believe it's in the game either.
Terran Keris: This is a Fighter Drone.
Split Enhanced Jaguar: Unsure.
Teladi Advanced Kestral: Same as above.


M4:

M3:

OTAS Venti: I think the only way to get one is as a reward for working for OTAS.
Paranid Medusa Prototype: Only seen one (part of the merc force of Op. Final Fury, never got him to bail). I understand one the Split starts will give you this ship.
Xenon Unknown Object: This ship doesn't exist, IIRC though it was in X3:R as Sargon's personal(?) ship.

Goer Ozias: Unboardable.

In my current game I'm flying a Pirate ship I've never seen before after quite some time of playing.
It's a pirate version of a split ship.
Has anybody else run across it in TC?
An M3+ fighter.
Never saw it before in 1.4 and this is the first time I see it while running 2.1.

Edit: I'm guessing its a Chimera or Enhanced Chimera. I'm pretty sure (not posiitive though) I've seen a Pirate version of the standard one but offhand I don't think I've come across a Pirate version of the enhanced one.

The weird thing is.
It's not listed in the M3 class ships as "pirate" in encyclopedia.
And has identical stats and looks to the Split version.
But I'm entirely sure it was a pirate ship since I had to gun down some other pirate ships it was with.
I'm starting to wonder if I've gone batty.

Edit: You're right about the Chimera part. Only I had never through a lot of days put into this game to the the level of honestly obtaining the PHQ, seen the Chimera as a pirate. But since it has identical stats I suppose pirate or split doesn't matter.
This is now just a pile of wasted posts and I should alt tab and continue playing... :P

There's nothing wrong about having questions and asking. I still find things in posts/threads that I didn't know about, having greater knowledge of things in X can prove to be rather useful.


Edit: As to the Chimera both the standard and enhanced look indentical with exception to their stats. Personally though I tend to go after the Blastclaws (both reg and proto) cause I like how they look and the proto's cargo bay is a big plus as well.

The Blastclaw Prototypes massive cargo bay is lovely.
Though I at the moment really enjoy the Chimeras slightly faster speed and a bit higher laser battery despite the smaller cargo bay.
When I do capture a prototype I'll have some considering to do as it makes for a lovely player ships with it's good space for Ecells.

Actually there are 3 types of clusters, depending on how many ships are in. While you CAN destroy a whole cluster with a single shot (did it with IBL fire), they split apart the same moment they take non-lethal damage. Theoretically I think it is possible to make one bail (with a single shot that takes away shields and at least 13% of it's hull) but never heard of someone being able to do it.
OTAS: Notus Hauler: Don't think this is in the game.
There's one at a time in Argon space, usually tied to an OWP, Military outpost or am
n escort group (mostly tied to a normal/heavy Centaur). it's always called Argon Notus Hauler.
Kha'ak Hive Queen: To my knowledge there is only one and it's plot related, so I'd say it's unboardable.
I never saw it and I've finished FF at least twice.

Yep, even if you succeed in boardig it during the Terran plot (as i did bringing in a Cobra filled with experienced marines), the control is switched to the Terrans thus making you lose all the marines.

Altho this might have been because of a modded script, I actually did get a Goner Ranger to bail (or rather, the Xenon did. What in Blazes was a Goner doing in a Xenon Sector anyways?)...

I destroyed my own destroyers as forfeit to script in my own Deca.

And sweet jesus, nothing, NOTHING!!! even scratches it. It's my emergency back up. It can clear a well stocked Xenon sector in 10 minutes without help from me :twisted:

Perhaps, I do recall that there were posts of people scripting one in, loading it with guns, and finding out that the ship wouldn't fire its guns because of a 0 recharge rate. Which kinda takes out of the fighting category, though I believe it can mount MD's and has the strongest hull (1.5mil) of any M3 by a long ways (the nearest is the Kea with a 16k hull).

I got one Ranger docked in Hoshi while capping it. Now, once it undocked it can dock anymore even when it shows as M5. Useless ship by any means.
