After playing the game yesterday and not having joystick support and numerous CTD I was totally down. I had been looking forward to this game since X2. Anyway woke up this morning and couldn't believe my eye's when I saw that 1.2 was available. Since installing the patch the game has been totally transformed. No more CTD, Joystick works and the game seems far smoother. It just feels like a new game. So far its a joy to play its just a pitty that it did not ship in this state. Anyway its hear now and I'm very happy, very very happy. Many thanks for getting the patch out today I can now stop playing Fear & Quake 4 and get down to some serious pleasure.
Certainly playing very well now, and as said it's a shame it couldn't have been released like this - but hey ho. Hopefully any other problems in the game aren't anything major (that we've yet to find).
Considerably smoother gameplay, no more CTDs, the horrible sound glitches are gone (except for a rather amusing incident when a pirate talked with Saya Kho's picture hehe), THIS is X3.
Thanks egosoft If I didn't have to run to a lecture, I'd be playing all day.
And I don't know what you did, but going through a jumpgate now is damn near instantaneous. Load times be gone!
Was just about to register my copy of X3 Reunion (further to other posts here on the forum) and having my lunch and I noticed the X3 Reunion Patch 1.2. is now available on the Egosoft website!
Now downloading at 92% on my 2Mbps connection...164K per second...
Anyway, don't all rush to download it at once, otherwise it will eat the bandwidth and crash their server!
Looking forward to a full four days of X3 Reunion immersion!
Will post some fuller impressions later, have played for about 20 hours now...
No more stuttering here. Whacked the detail right up, smooth as in combat.
Load times for jumping sectors also went down considerably, as did the stutters while in SETA. And sound fix too! What a difference.
Just to say thanks to all involved in getting Patch 1.2. out so quickly. I've just been playing using it and things are better, it seems mainly to have resolved the sound-stutter problems I was having.
The game is also perfectly fine running on my Gigabyte 6600GT 128MB SilentPipe....this isn't the most expensive card in the world (I bought it for about £120 ($220) back in February 2005 this year and now it is about £110, and it runs perfectly at resolution 1024 x 768 and with Shader and Texture detail set to High (maximum). Obviously if you have a higher spec card that's great but it just goes to show that you don't need to shell out £300 on a graphics card to play the game! The rest of my specs are 3.0Ghz Pentium IV, 1 Gig DDR2 RAM, Soundblaster card, 19" TFT Monitor etc.
So many thanks to Egosoft for producing a great game. I noticed when I installed the patch just now that the main game file was completed/updated at 03.53 THIS MORNING - someone was working late to finish this for today!
Only flaw I've found so far (minor picky one mind) is with the tooltips after you've been in a station. You end up with a small black bar at the bottom of the screen (with a bit of the tooltip you last had) and stays there. It makes clicking on the buttons when you're in a station a tad tricky as well as you can't see which one is which so clearly.
Other than that - got to the end of mission 3 without any problems. Quite pleased how the AI fight a lot better, only had 1 incident when I flew into a bad guy but that was my fault rather than the way they fight.
Quick note about that 3rd mission

You get a message to press J to activate the jump-drive when it's actually Shift and J (ok, it's in the manual, but it got confusing for a second) - and for those that don't know it should really tell them to go and buy some energy cells first. They're quite important
Hi all. I have a problem. From what I have read I need to to get the 1.2 patch from inside X3 by using an upadate key when I'm logged into this site (I don't yet have to game). The catch is that I don't have internet access at home (I'm at work at the moment). I was stiffed with Half Life 2 and STEAM: Am I gonna get stiffed with X3?
Can I download the patch from work? I looked at the registration page and it hade a cd key type security device, so I thought getting the game would let you into the download page but I have seen other posters saying even after registering they cannot down load the patch "out off game". Is this true? Am I looking at another STEAM? Really want to play the game but can't waste good money on one I can't play.
