Build Storage
Why is it so hard to destroy build storage after I take down a station? It can take me 10 min sometimes with a capital ship and often (50%) it just seems to hang and take no damage? What are they built out of? Is this a bug? It makes NO sense to me and adds no fun to the game.

Re: Build Storage
And for that matter why is it not seen as an enemy, and why cant I order others in my fleet to attack it.vpelss wrote: ↑Tue, 24. Re: Build Storage
The build storage will disappear with time once it is empty of external containers and its station is totally destroyed with no rebuild/repair activity. It will probably not disappear while you are actually observing it either in person or remotely.
Build storage are deliberately elusive to find and resilient to attack in-game as they would offer too easy a way to control factions if easily detected, attacked and destroyed. It would also be a game-changing problem for players if hostile and pirate NPCs routinely attacked player build storages.

Re: Build Storage
Thanks.
Would it be accurate to say that there is no benefit for me to destroy them?
I had thought if left the build storage, the station would be more likely to rebuild.
When I destroy a station there is always containers in it.
I guess one benefit would be to pick up the loot if I had a trading container ship.
But if there is no benefit in destroying it, then I would love to save the time and move on to other targets.

Re: Build Storage
Just to be clear, the build storage will stay if it is showing any external containers on the build storage hub framework as those can potentially be used for station rebuild/repair only if the station owner so decides - but you can salvage some resources from them if you shoot and then loot magnet them. The build storage doesn't have to show entirely empty if you check its information as the invulnerable hub has a small amount of internal storage too, but that doesn't matter for these disappearance purposes. If all the station structures are totally destroyed and the build storage is quite empty of external containers and no resupply is on the way, then the build storage will more quickly eventually disappear unseen (along with the station wreckage and station icon).
A completely empty build storage (externally and internally empty) with no station left can be immediately and directly destroyed by the player.

Re: Build Storage
Shoot the containers first. After that the Build Storage is easy to destroy.
In earlier version of game the Build Storage were indestructable. They vanished eventually.
There is that; the loot.
The other thing is that Build Storage of destroyed station seems to have sell offers while it has wares.
Your foe's freighters might be able to buy wares from it for their next station?

Re: Build Storage
Thanks for all the tips.
I still find it strange that I have to destroy them and I can't send a proxy ship to do it.

Re: Build Storage
To add to the above about destroying the containers first, this is true but it doesn't guarantee that the build storage can then be destroyed straight away as it may still have wares that aren't shown graphically (i.e. storage value is non-zero).
In these situations usually there are some ships enroute to the storage to remove the last wares and you must wait for these to dock then undock before the storage can be destroyed.
Sometimes though if you are persistent enough in shooting it it will suddenly just get destroyed (perhaps because the ship enroute was destroyed, who knows).
This seems to affect Xenon build storage less.
Destroying build storages is critical to manipulating AI empire expansion and I've done an awful lot of it!
