I've included a save
- Load the save found at https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ul38d2vp ... 1a093&dl=0
- Look in Atiya's Misfortune 1
- Notice there are many Xenon build storages just hanging around where I've previously destroyed stations
- Notice at the top (north?) gate there is a build storage still there even though the station plot has vanished.
- Notice that you cannot do damage to the storage so can't remove it yourself as the player
This demonstrates that:
- After a station is destroyed, a build storage remains and becomes a map-visible item
- After the destroyed station's hull disappears and the plot is removed, that independent build storage is still there
- The build storage is indestructible and so can't be removed by the player.

+1
I've got dozens of orphaned indestructible build storages all over my sectors!

I also noticed this, but at least for me I found a cause: If there is currently still a ship on its way to supply this build storage, you cannot destroy it. As soon as the supplying ship has arrived or is destroyed itself, you can destroy the "scaffolding" of the storage after destroying all currently stored goods and then it disappears from map and is gone for good.

From what I have observed, it seems that building storages of destroyed stations will try to sell off what they still have. If you manually destroy all containers (which will incur no reputation penalty), the storage will soon disappear

I just tested this last night. What I noticed was if you destroy all the containers in a build storage it remains indestructible for a short time, but when I came back a few mins later I shot the build storage frame and it was destroyed. This worked on three instances in a row.

I think that if there is a trader bringing something it can not be destroyed.

Old issue from 1.5 days
viewtopic.php?t=408838
There seems to have been some improvement though. I was recently defending Hat. Choice from XEN and saw two build storage. My AI ignored them, also wouldn't attack when I orderd them to. But it seems strange to have a bunch of XEN build storage around a gate where they were trying to set up defense platforms that I did destroy.
In the previous discussion, it was mentioned that destroying a build storage makes the game unstable if you try to edit the station. I think a proper solution for this is to only let the build storage become destructible when there is nothing else left of the station.

Recent thread.
Just for the record, the CUB hostile build storages I mention in that thread that despawned on their own had no visible cargo containers left after I destroyed them and picked up loot, but in their information still contained some wares stored internally in the indestructible parts.

Correct, you can only destroy them if they are completely empty and the frame can contain some resources even with all visible containers destroyed. I have a couple M traders follow me around to buy those last few bits and then I can destroy the build storage.Alan Phipps wrote: ↑Fri, 2. Aug 24, 09:47 Recent thread.

Re: BUG 7.0: Build storage of destroyed enemy station never goes away
In my experience with hostile CUB though, the build storages will eventually despawn over 30 game minutes or so if they have no visible ware containers even if they still have some wares shown as held internally. Obviously they would not trade with me anyway to allow me to empty them and no NPCs have been docking with them (nor attacking them - not even ZYA) as far as I can tell. I think that the player needs to keep away from them though as a visit *might* reset the despawn timer.
