Can a ship you're in enter internal storage?
I'm thinking specifically what happens when you're on an M ship docked at a carrier or Oddy with only 1 M dock. What happens when you order a ship in internal storage to undock or a ship comes in to land? Would they just get stuck until you leave one way or another?

If you enter a ship that is going into internal storage, you'll just be teleported to whatever it got docked into.

So it's safe then. That's good to know.
Those teleportation elevators has always scared me when going with other people.

I did once jump into a lowering dock when a mining drone was being stowed away, and I got a game over
But maybe that's because the drone is "destroyed", i.e. doesn't stay as a ship object, when stowed...

Probably the source of the lost ship replacement bug in the 7.5 beta. When you are in sector with large miners, and the mining drones return to their ships, if the miner is subordinate to a station that is using the lost ship replacement, then this causes the station to think it need to replace it, and you get a red hammer with a number next to it.MegaJohnny wrote: ↑Tue, 24. You can't send a ship to internal storage while you're onboard, and you cannot teleport into ships within internal storage. You can request retrieval and immediately teleport into the shift then you'll have an opportunity to see the walls of the storage. That's it. Also if you stand on a docking pad, that blocks it. So you could stand at the S pad, stare at a landed mining drone and keep wondering why it is not being stored, while the drone patiently waits for you to walk away and stop blocking the landing pad.Raptor34 wrote: ↑Tue, 24. Re: Can a ship you're in enter internal storage?
There is a way to enter a ship while it's going into internal storage. From whatever the ship is docked on, either a station or another ship, enter your spacesuit and get real close, within docking range of the ship. Then send it to internal storage. Once it starts descending, use Shift-d to enter the ship. You'll be unable to move. Then tell the ship to exit internal storage and you'll find yourself inside the cockpit and can take control. This is with a player ship.
I've used another technique to enter NPC ships in those game starts where I have no ship yet. I wait for, say, an M-class freighter to land, and then quickly run into the docking area. If there's a lot of traffic, that ship will almost always be put into internal storage, waiting for the next ship to land. While it's descending, I usually have enough time to run up the ramp and board it, and then wait for it to leave. Free ride to somewhere else!

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.
