What script regulates how much the map's sector can remain stretched?

What script regulates how much the map's sector can remain stretched?

Could someone point me to the script that regulates how the map's stretching when positioning objects very far away?
Seems there is a certain hardcore limit around 12.000-14.000 km so that beyond that the objects appear out of the sector if not when the player is exactly there (satellites or other objects do not keep the map stretched, nor discovered gates or stations).
The map stretches beyond that point if the player goes there but then goes back to a radius inferior to that of the object (gates, stations etc.) that remains visible but out of the sector's hex.
Editing the <sectorcontent maxdistance=...> in parameters does not seem to change that even if set at higher values.
