Modding Wish List
I'm just curious, where do people's interests lie in regards to what they'd like to see mods for in X4?
For example, everything I've seen about NPC interaction is basically non-existent unless there is a mission related event tied to them.
It seems like there's a lot of potential there, so I'm wondering if any modders are looking to adding more "life" to the NPCs in this sense?

Re: Modding Wish List
I would like a Cheat Menu Mod like in X3 or in X Rebirth but with the new UI of course. Spawn in ships, change load outs, add crew, add credits and anything else that the game features that would be beneficial for testing!
This is one of the most important mods for me in all X games because I use it to Test different ships and weapon load outs etc, Test and Compare the various ships against each other with me at the controls so I see how they handle etc. Also for station placement and design etc.
There is really no way to do that now except through earning mulla (credits) and rep and purchasing everything first (defeating my goal of testing different things first to see which path I want to choose).
Before anyone flames me etc. Please remember a Single Player game can be played how ever the person who is playing it wishes too and most importantly enjoys the most (to its fullest). This is how I like to do it!
Cheers!

Re: Modding Wish List
I would love to be able to explore more of my ship/more interiors
Able to board ships with guns (Not done it yet so I don't know if it is in)
A taxi service to get me back to my ship. I have been kidnapped when using the lift on stations and ended up on someones else's ship that left the system and no way back. Not even Shift-D worked.

Yeah, I really have to wonder if maybe the future expansions intend to add more to the ship interiors. Cockpits are cool, but I wanted to go into a cargo room and see the canisters there
Or conduct repairs from the inside instead of the outside. Keep it cramped on the small ships, but imagine walking the halls of a carrier!

Eh, I wouldn't flame you over that. I can see other uses for it, such as setting up grand battle scenarios that you then record and cut into a Star Wars-esque movie

Re: Modding Wish List
I completely agree with everyone else MORE SHIP INTERIOR!
It just seems pointless having the option to walk around your bridge if there is no point to it.
I want to be able to walk onto my large ship and walk to the bridge through hallways and the interior of my ship not just walk into a white room then step out onto the bridge!
Also NPC conversations and station also more fleshed out
I want a little more role play elements, more so the better ship interiors I would love to be "the captain" you know order you pilot to mine a asteroid belt while you watch or then go down to the cargo bay, or your own quaters and stuff. NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL! put that with the empire building aspect this game would be a whole new genre in its own almost

Xenon Hunt 4 of course. The ships already have support for the editor, they just need a bridge assigned and some component assignment.

Re: Modding Wish List
What about having an FPS mod? Would that be possible? It would probably have to either be disabled in certain situations or given consequences (lest we go about taking over the bridge of a ship by force
). Perhaps we can take part in marine boarding parties?
But maybe that's going a bit too far this early on. I mean, realistically modders are going to start with what is easily implemented.
What kind of mods could expand on the game without too much work? additional NPC scripts/reactions (on ships and in person)? Improve combat AI? (or at least, more variations to draw upon)?
As time goes on, of course, people will get more ambitious. I'm looking forward to it all, really

Re: Modding Wish List
I would want to fix the most disappointing part for me of the game: the system/sector designs. Argon Prime doesn't look busy, doesn't feel like "home". Scale Plate Green is... Blue. Antigone Memorial's planet Sandwell is... Green. Ianamus Zura is miscoloured too.
This somehow kills the overal vibe for me.

I would love to be able to replace the speed lines with "brackets." So there's still a visual representation of speed but it's explicitly clear that this is part of the HUD, not some weird unnatural space dust.

It would be great if there is a mod where all crews in the universe are maxed out. Having to dock in every station to look for that 3+ stars crew is kinda annoying in the long run

Extend build territory, like 40x40x40km to create mega structure, like borg cube. (And see IA crash into it xD)

Re: Modding Wish List
I'm longing for several mods:
1. The "Landing computer" that lands instandly like the old one: fly to the station within 5km, shift + D -> docked. The landing system is nice, but after 50 times it gets annoying
2. Jump drive. These huge sectors make the game boring. It takes a long time to get from A to B!
3. Ship override software + automatically put pilots into the inherited ship, like those of X3.
Honestly, the new system for taking over ships is just horror and you waste time that you can make good use of.
4. The most important: The classic, direct mouse control
I have a lot of problems with the current mouse control. The ship does not respond 100% to what I do with the mouse.
The classic controls were much more precise.

Re: Modding Wish List
Automatic renaming based on formatting PLEASE. I have a fleet of like 50 galaxy miners and it is giving me complete aids to rename each one by one.
Also, mass setting on hold orders since AutoMine can only be set there unlike autotrade which can be set using right click on the map.

Duplex and Triplex scanner.
Discovering the galaxy with short range scanner is annoying. We need scanned with double and triple range.

Re: Modding Wish List
I second that. Or at least mod to increase shipboard range. When you see stations with your eyes long before your scanners, something is really wrong. And my deployed satelites *should* have the range to see them, area on map is revealed, but the stations are not there untill you fly close to them. Way, way worse then in Rebirth and X3.

Re: Modding Wish List
- Better long range scanner. It's annoying to Press Shift+3 which disrupts travel mode just to do the scan
- A crew member bulletin board at each station and crews with more then 0 stars.
- More crowed home systems

Interesting there are cheats in the code base for doing some of that stuff already, just not enabled and no hint to what turns cheat mode on.Lazerath wrote: ↑Sun, 2. Re: Modding Wish List
I was a big Fan of the Sat Placing software.
I also think the Auto Pilot could do with some work, pretty sure the Dev team will address that.
Maybe some more Beefy type Capital ships, they are a little limited at the moment.
Also some Auto explore commands and Patrol Commands.
EDIT: Also just had a cool idea, you know the junk that is left over when you destroy something, maybe it might be possible to mod in salvage ships that go around recycling them to add a little back into the economy. Maybe it could be a way to start just going around get scrap parts to take to a recycling plant or something.
