Joystick Hat switch only works external view

As the post title says, my joystick hatswitch only works in external view to look around. What's weird is that with the joystick plugged in, the numpad keys only work on external too.

I'm using a Thrustmaster T.16000.

Any ideas?

Moving to X Trilogy Universe forum for more exposure to X3 players with that joystick who may be able to advise you. A brief search of the forums shows people with that joystick using it quite happily (within its inherent and game-imposed limitations) with X3.

i have the same problem, I have an saitek x55 and use UJR to emulate one device. I can look around using the hat if i hold a direction and then hit the 'center view' button. I never had this problem with my x52 but it was 1 device and never needed a virtual joystick emulator. I disabled the "use hat to look" and bound the look keys to something else and its the same thing. can only look around in 3rd person, even using keyboard keys.

Check your key bindings in the game's Options->Controls section. Something may be conflicting with the joystick setup.

yeah nothing else is using the hat, it doesn't even work with the keyboard keys.

Yeah, that's the thing... I am not sure what you guys expect, but I have three different sticks; Thrustmaster, Logitech, and MS Sidewinder. All three hats work the same way as the numeric keypad. That is just the way it works.

Looking around works a bit better in 3rd person view.
