any advice on how to prevent this bug
or get the ship back ?

It's possible that loosing a random portion ships taken at that point might (or might not) be intentional, causing the ship to be returned sometimes but not always.

There's a mod that can firmly prevent you from loosing your stuff, though it wont help if you've already passed the relevant part of the plot: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=353772

If you go back to after the fight, travel one jump from the jumpgate sector (whatever it's called) and then save it, you can repeatedly initiate the bit where you get your ships back until you actually get your ships. I've had to do this twice now as a different bug caused me to lose my gigurum in Devries, and it only took me 3 or 4 attempts to get my ships to appear.

Now I've got to figure out how to make them jump to DeVries!

if u have the no jump fuel mod, it will never happen without it takes about 15 min till u see them

I reloaded 8 times to get Rahanas back.
I saved just after jump with fleet.

Rahanas is returned immediately after dialog ends in which you told about it, you could fly to gate zone (Where this dialog appears) from other side, it helped me.

for going to DeVries in 1.15:
just add to squad and ask captain to get you to zone you select in DeVries, then come aboard, (don't add ship to squad while you not in fly on your ship), that's may not work for no fuel construction ship, but (if he in your squad) he would stuck for ~15 minutes in each sector of DeVries, so make sure it safe there for stucking, but you your self can use fueled Rahanas, it will jump faster.

Or after selling the e-cells to Lonely Giant and before you trigger the PMC going enemy, just sell the Rahanas to get a few easy bucks for earlier Skunk upgrades.

it will be MUCH easy to play after if you did not lose that ship,
you will be required to pay > 16 mln to replace it (with 2 rahanas)
or cap them.

i played thru the eintire plot until the 300 food mission in every patch level and on ALL of these 10 or more games my rahanna NEVER reappeared, all other ships like taranis, construction vessel and that guggglibugglyugly mini freigher i at least had present...(with mostly 1 or 2 of them getting screwed over, disappearing from the world at any random moment)

That consistency of it made me believe that tat ship was only for tutorial and just goes away..obviously i was wrong ..now again i sit there with bugged plot for like 50 hours of gameplay wasted. SCREW THIS CRAP REALLY.

I never restarted plot, only used someone savegame after energy cell delivery mission, other things was corrected by editing savegame, reload, known methods to workaround bug, but I do most of trading with 1.15 - most stable trading version know for now.
