Hi guys,
I was wondering in one of the upcoming patches could you sort out the police sirens in space and when you can hear them all over the station? I know the player has to be aware the police are on to them but could this be accomplished by a message from the cop car? Still have flashing lights but sound doesn't travel in space so no siren.
I was getting so fed up of them this evening that I went around a station shooting them all before reloading the game.
Thanks.

I agree, police sirens in space make no sense and I hope they'll remove them in a future patch.
Until then you can use this mod: http://xrebirth.nexusmods.com/mods/37/?
Later edit: Mopy beat me to it

I suggest perhaps changing how they work.
When an NPC is being chased/arrested etc, allow a short blast at the start of this action, where as if you are the target, the sirens are on as now.
The reason you hear sirens in space is because they are part of the mandatory law enforcement module built into each ship, not through sound in space. </handwave>

Again, the argument of no sound in space makes no sense whatsoever, because sci-fi always has sound in space for artistic reasons. You've always had weapon sounds, explosions, collisions etc. and now people complain about the sirens ...
If it bothers you so much, use your imagination. This is 900 years in the future. It's simply the board computer playing all sounds for you as an auditory cue and to simulate atmospheric conditions to make use of your sense of hearing, which would otherwise be unused as a means to navigate space.

Well there is in fact a little problem here:
If you are scanned before docking somewhere. The police waits for you outside until you undock and it can continue it's scan/announcement. So you walk around in the station and have the police sirene sound nearby becaue the police is waiting outside ... Thats really unnerving. The police should stop any actions and should continue searching outside, or at least kill the sound while on the station. People getting nuts hearing that for 5 and more minutes.

People still land on stations? Get the NESA mod, which eliminates station landing alltogether, and stop worrying.GdVzSdRf wrote:Well there is in fact a little problem here:
