Running the X3:TC and AP games on a PC without an Internet connection

Post by Paul Brothers »

I'm sure that this question will have been asked before.
I have a cheap and nasty laptop which I use for Internet use, emails etc, but it barely meets the requirements for playing these games and basically becomes a slideshow, almost unplayable. The X3 benchmarks reported very low framerates. I have a PC at home which is never connected to the Internet, but which meets and exceeds the maximum game requirements. This is the machine I want to play the X3 games on, but with the Steam and Internet connection issues, seem unable to do so.
Am I going to have to take the PC apart, reconnect it all at the property with an Internet connection to install Steam, then run the NoSteam exe in order to get this to work on my stand alone PC? Or is there another alternative?
For all other items I have downloaded files on the laptop and copied them over to my home PC to update drivers, software and resolve issues.

You could copy your entire TC directory (..\Steam\steamapps\common\x3 terran conflict) and egosoft directory (from My Documents) over to the new PC. The AP files are contained within the TC directory, as it's classed as an add-on.

However, this may invalidate the steam T&C's.

Thanks for that information. It is a pity that you cannot just buy and play a game these days. :)

thats never been the case with PC games.

theres always been some kind of installation ;)

just be thankfully we're no longer in the DOS games when you had to edit your config.sys and autoexec.bat to make certain games work, or free up enough base memory for them to run ;)

I am old enough to remember dos games and yes have been there trying to free up a very small amount of base memory to get the game to run on the system.
