[X3AP] problem with increasing/decreasing ingame menu values - Custom scripts only.

Post by Mycu »

Hi,

I'm having problem with ingame menu buttons <<< and >>>

It should increase/decrease values, but when clicked - nothing happens.
Only clicking on the value between them inreases it.

What could be the reason?

Perhaps you could give us a little more information to work with. Which game you are playing would be a start. Then there's the other information requested in the very first thread in this forum. And perhaps some details of which menu(s) you are having trouble with.

Hi,

Sorry - I've skipped first thread rules
So:
- I'm playing AP 2.5.1
- my language version is 48 (Polish)
- I think that my DXDIAG has nothing to do with it but I may paste it here if it'll be needed

- installed libs:
+ community plugin configuration v 1.51
+ hotkey manager v 1.21
+ ware manager v 1.10
+ command library v 3.7.06

- installed scripts:
+ chem strings function library v 2.97
+ dock TS v 1.0
+ factory complex constructor v 4.02
+ galaxy explorer v 1.9.8.9
+ rename ship with expression v 2.9
+ ship killed notifications v 1.0.3
+ station repacker v 1.10
+ universal best buy/sells locator v 2.51a
+ weapons quick swap v 1.03
+ global administration v 3.1.05
+ CAG v 3.4.02
+ CLS v 3.4.02
+ EST v 3.4.01
+ Trade Overview v 2.053
+ dock lockup fix
+ stock exchange hotkey v 1.1
+ MK3 Improvement Reloaded

- installed mods:
+ Bonus Package 5.1.00
+ IE immersive environments v 1.1
+ IEX v 1.3c
+ Marking unknown Sectors v 1.1
+ Model Performance Update v 3.1.0
+ Pure X v 2.0

Hovering <<< or >>> menu button works but when clicked - nothing happens.
Only direct value clicking increases it but decreasing is impossible.

Game menus (Graphic setings/Audio/Ships orders etc) are just fine.

The one that are not working are custom scripts related (Galaxy Explorer settings/Luckie's scripts settings/Turbo boost settings/SEWN settings) so it seems that I'll have to check scripts first...

No, those menu forward/back chevrons work fine in vanilla X3AP with a typical mouse & driver. If they don't work for you then either your base game install is corrupt, your mouse/driver is non-standard, your 3rd party mods/scripts have changed the UI, or those mods/scripts have a clash with either Steam game updates or each other.

I am afraid that is as far as we can help you if the problem lies in your added mods/scripts.

Thanks for your answer Alan.

I woluld reject mouse driver problem - if it would cause the problem - all of menus should behaviour identically.

I'll try to uninstall custom scripts one by one and check if antyhing changes.
If so - I'll install all other scripts and make sure that everything is still ok.
Then I'll check suspicious scrpt/mod again :)

You might have issues or unexpected results if uninstalling things and then loading a save that expects them. Alternatively, even though you uninstall them, they may still be loaded either from the gamesave or from the Virtual Store if the game/OS is using that for gamefiles and scripts.

I hope you don't have these issues during your investigation but I thought I would give you a heads-up just in case.

Yes, I realize that - so if scripts disabling/uninstalling won't resolve antyhing - I will have to run plan B called "reversed checking" (by installing fresh X3 AP instance and then installing all those scripts one by one) :)
It's not so big problem with decreasing gone but it makes me nervous that some small and stupid button don't wont to cooperate with such a great game

Hmmm... this is a bit strange.

Tried to uninstall all scripts (one left to have a possibility to check custom menu) but nothing changes.

Then I've uninstalled entire game (folder /steamapps/common/X3 Terrain Conflict removed), installed it again (TC + AP), installed Plugin Manager and RSwE script only.
I've started a new game and checked RSwE menu... still nothing :/

Just in case we are misunderstanding, what screen are you in and what exactly are you trying to do and with what?

I was talking about the sub-menu forward/back or next-page/last-page chevrons (<<< and >>>) and those such as the in-game audio and graphics menus for changing volume level or gamma % etc. They all work as intended for me.

I'm talking about those red marked buttons.
For in-game audio/graphics/changing volume level etc they work for me too.
But for all custom scripts menus - they are broken.

I'll try to install X3 on my second computer and check how they behaviour.

Ah right. Then as Cycrow said, the custom scripts did not include any code to make those buttons work in their custom UI. No need to investigate further.

So none of the custom script has those buttons working?
In the other words - there is no way to decrease value between those chevrons in any of the custom's scripts menu?

That is something to ask in the S&M thread where you got them from.
