im doing the aldrin plot again and i got the mission to dock @ the earth torus and then goto aldrin ect
when i got to aldrin 2 i got the bugged mission and there was no gate
i reloaded a save before i docked at torus and i noticed the mission details were highlighted as 'use the unfocused JD instead of dock at aldrin

using no mods or scripts UN MODIFIED

The whole Aldrin Plot starts with a UFJD bit - I think you have gone back too far!

This from Spychotic's walkthrough covering the part where you first go to Aldrin 2:

You’ll notice that Aldrin looks a little different to how it used to; the factories have moved about and if you look closely you’ll realise that there’s now a couple of Trans-Orbital Accelerators dotted around. Get to the station, dock and chat to Lt Jake Griffin. He asks you to transport him to a station next door in Aldrin 2, linked to from the two East TOAs in Aldrin. From there, the jumpgate in Aldrin 2 will be reactivated. The station you are heading for is the Orbital Supply Base. Once you’ve dropped your charge off there, you must head for the inactive Gate in the sector. You’ll need a decent light combat vessel.

The reason for this is that as soon as the Gate is activated, Xenon come swarming through. You’ve got help from some Terran capitals dealing with them, but said Terrans will be lobbing PSP fire around so watch yourself. A single PSP bolt can demolish a small Corvette.
Which bit isn't working? Do you have the passenger and have you been to the Orbital yet?

Ah, you mean this which has a kind of workaround. (You have an extra 2 in the error message in the title which is why my search didn't find examples at first.)

edit i solved it!
had to back to a previous savegame! seta and turbo boost to the dodgy point (ignoring my stuff)
so lost 4hours worth of play and some unique ships i had capped in that period.......due to a plot bug that i thought had been fixed ages ago!

all back on track now after that! was worried as this is a clean install on steam so no mods ect
