Best LOOKING ship?
Now I know this is a matter of personal taste, but I'm having a hard time finding a good looking ship. Sure a few m5s look pretty good, but I'd hardly want to make it my personal ship.
Right now I'm flying a Nova Vanguard. It's ok, but I find it to be pretty ugly. My favorite ship from X2, the Paranid Perseus, was one sexy machine. I loved it to death. But in X3 it looks pretty horrible to me.
So I dunno, what are some good looking ships? The Split Dragon looks pretty sweet, but I dunno, is it worth getting?
You tell me. What ships do you think are pretty and useful?

I think the Split ships have an awesome appearance overall-- anywhere from the M3 Mamba through the M6 Dragon, the Elephant, the Tiger/Panther, and the Python.
I like the appearance of the OTAS M2 Boreas probably the best out of any of the M2s, even more than the Python. (And it doesn't hurt that the Boreas is one of the fastest and best shielded M2s, either.)
For lighter ships, I like the Teladi M5 Kestrel. It also makes most other M5s and M4s obsolete.
Most of the Argon ships strike me as being a bit fugly-- the M6 Centaur / HCP are okay, but the M5/M4/M3 classes are all a bit bulbous and awkward, the M3+ Eclipse looks like a brick, and to this day I still have problems visually distinguishing the Argon TL, M1, and M2. ;-)
Both Boron and Paranid ships are distinctive and reasonably nice, but have different tradeoffs: the Boron capships are pretty enough but simply huge and have issues docking or undocking sometimes, as well as being large slow targets compared to other races; the Paranid are nice but their PSG loadouts have major friendly fire consequences.
Aside from the Kestrel and maybe the Kea, most other Teladi ships look like they were designed by a committee living in a junkyard and then beaten by an ugly stick. :-)

For a M3 I like the Advanced Barracuda (average shields, very good top speed, too weak laser generator) and Skate Prototype (average shields, good speed, awesome with full load of EBC on front). For M6 I don't know any nice ship, for M7 the Thresher is just beautiful, for M2 the Osaka is clean and kind of nice.
In general the Boron ships are gracious and the Terran ships are clean, but beautiful is too much for a ship

Split Dragon. Looks amazing, but I wish it had the performance to go with the looks. The Heavy version just doesn't cut it either.
This signature is here because it makes my posts look longer and therefore makes me seem like I know what I am talking about - which I do, honest!
For example, the Ray is the best M2 and a Falcon always beats the other M3s, see!
Hey, now that TC is out the Ray does seem to be one of the best M2's. Maybe I had better change my sig...

For those who need a reference the X2 Perseus looks like this:
http://argonopedia.ppcis.org/ship.php?ship=24
@Tennouheika: Are you talking about X3: Reunion or X3: Terran Conflict?
I think the closest thing you'll find to the perseus are the boron fighters as they have the same curving lines and a similar surface texture, they are in light green rather than that nice orange though.
I do rather like the Perseus in X3, or at least the Dolphin-like varients, the thin version isn't so nice.

For an agessive looking ship check out the ATF ones, the USC can be your thing too, clean with sharp edges, orignial and so Terran
For smooth and curvy and elegant lines the ARgon and Boron.
For "junk-industrial-ish" like it's gonna fall apart in any moment, but cool anyways look at Teladi ships.
Those fleets are the ones I like the most, I personally detest Paranid models (except the Hyperion) and Split are too "stick-bug" things. Xenon are blocks put together and joined by pipes and Khaak are original but boring (and their M1's and M2's look awful) though they make the perfect creepy enemy.
I think ATF and Argon fighters look the best, as for capitals both mentioned plus USC and Boron. I quite like how USC fighters look too though, remind me of the Xperimental shuttle and the Getsu-Fune descriptions.
Best lookign fighter IMO is the Thor.
Best looking frigates: Aegir and Cerberus.
Best looking capital ships: Odin, Osaka, Titan/Colossus (thye look almost the same) and Ray.
To check the ships in all its glory, fire up X3TC with all graphical settigns at max (If you can't fight like that just conteplate the ships).

I like the looks of the split ships.. scorpian, mamba and dragon and tiger..
I also like the Heavy Centaur.. it looks like it means business..
The worst ships.. for me are definately the Terran.. cutlass.. yuck! The vidar.. an excellant ship.. but so fugly.. if it were real.. I would be embarrassed to be seen in it

I do like the look of the Paranid ships, and LOVE the Boron ships, especially the Thresher.

Heavy Centaur Prototype is great looking for Argon as most are square blocks just like Teladi.
Most boron curvy ships are nice, think the Boron Ray is the best looking Cap I think.
For some odd reason I love the Paranid ships, think its the black/gold trim they have.

Agree with these two points. The HCP is the only ship I like the look of that isn't boron.Deman wrote:Heavy Centaur Prototype is great looking for Argon as most are square blocks just like Teladi.

My favourite looking ship(s) are the the boron angel and boron orca, closely followed by the boron thresher and boron skate (my personal ship atm, sold my fat eclipse after getting fed up of the look).

PSG's became capital ship-only weapons in TC, not including M6's, most likely because they were grossly overpowered for a fighter. Kinda like PBG's are now.

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.
