Framerate Issue: Hardware/Software Aspect

Post by Aramova »

In this thread I'd like to explore, along with others who will keep things tidy, the technical aspect of the framerate issue.

As of now, we can assume that there is no solid known cause for this. Otherwise it would be hotfixed

I'm going to provide in my opening post my config, and update this first post with what others have provided along with a condensed list of links to screenshots/etc.

This opening post will change as I have time to work on it and better refine it for ease of use and information.

im having similar issues but in only getting 15-20 fps on start when im facing any station and in open space ill get up to 40-45fps.

specs:
pentium D 3.2 Ghz
4 gig ram
nvidia 7900 gtx 512gig
xfi sound
vist ultimate 32

with X3-R from start facing anything i would have 75-80 fps.

I've done some additional testing, it seems that the opening screen of the game runs at a full 140-150FPS with all settings maxed. During this time the CPU is taxed no more then normal (Sub 60% on the core it's assigned), however the GPU use is quite higher.

In game with 18-20FPS the GPUs hover around 35%, and tempatures sit in the low 60s C.

In the opening screen both GPUs crank up to near 100%, and temps rise to low 80s C

Screenshots of situations, FPS, Memory and CPU usage below.

Huh... Maybe i should try that on my comp and see what i get... the game stutters but is playable most of the time (i know i hit 1 fps when i tried testing how far i could push it and spawned 200 ships... it was playable after they were done spawning...)

My comp doesn't even meet the min specs and its pretty playable...

My specs are the following:

AMD Athlon X2 3800+ 2ghz
3 GB RAM
Soundcard onboard
XFX Geforce 9600 GT 512 MB

I ran the game at high textures at the start of the game using a resolution of 1600 x 1280. Worked fine. Now the game is hardly playable because a fleet of pirates and/or civilians seem to be adrift in the sectors; snailing along without a clear course. Nice to have friendly pirates around, but it's not the way it's supposed to be...
