Hey

Iam thinking of buying a Argon Colaussus or how they spells. Since it can have 130 ships i wounder if its possible to make them into smaller teams. Lets say i have 20 smaller ships inside it and want to make 2 squadrons. 10 ships in eatch "team". And i only wanna use 1 team for a fight. So my question is that is it possible to command many ships at once. Like 10 ships go protect the ship and then command them all to dock with the ship and not to sít and make the dock command for eatch ship.

you can do this, no matter what ship you are in, but cannot divide them into teams. to do it, go to your ships command console, and press 6, and choose what classes of ship you want to command, then choose the command :D

Well actually you kind of can do the squadron thing. Buy 10 argon novas but don't give them any front guns. Only give them hornet missiles and a rear turret gun. Use the ten argon novas as your bomber squadron.

Buy a bunch of fighters like say 20 boron M3 and 40 split M4 etc. What your doing is dividing ships by type and race so it's easier to tell the difference when in the menu of docked ships on a carrier. Also don't assign any of those ships to the carrier because when the carrier is under attack they will just fly out to defend randomly.

When you attack something with a carrier you don't just fly up to the target and start shooting, stay atleast one sector away from your target and launch a fighter squadron or two to that sector the target is in. If your gonna take out a station like a pirate base, launch many fighters first and then send them into that sector to take out the lasertowers first, then the fighters.

While they are busy fighting and dying, send in that wing of novas to destroy the pirate base. When the pirate base is gone, immediately start ordering those novas back to ship. they are bombers only afterall with no front guns so they have to bug out when the job is done. That leaves your remaining fighters in the sector to clean up whats left or retreat when the novas have escaped.

You could also launch a wing of fighters just for carrier defense while your attacking a target in another sector. This helps to keep the khaaka off you while in story mode.

There was some wing patrol scripts around here for a while you might look around for them.

oh and one more thing. Lets say i own a Solar power plant and a Ammo plant that needs the enegery stuff from the Solar power plant. How do i command my TL ship to go and get it and drop it of at the ammo factory and go and it more and so on auto? I know how to use the TL to buy wares for best prices ETC but how do i command them to get the stuff from my own factories auto?

erm yes you can create teams for your carriers :)

Marks Wing/patrol/resupply scripts were excellent for this. you can create a squad. then "garrison" it at a station or a carrier. it will then scan for enemies and launch when any are detected. I also loved the fighter wing missle strike feature of the wing script :) make a squad. use the resupply script to fill each ship with hornets, then use the strike feature on the squads lead ship, to pick a target and the distance from which to launch the missles. very satisfying to watch a wing of 10 novas make a pirate station go boom!! hehehe

if i remember right. it also works well with the carrier refit script. this creates a perimeter around your carrier to protect. if any enemies come within that range. fighters are launched. it also had other features i think.
