Regaining the Universe Mod

I would like to make a mod where the Xenon and Khaak have taken over nearly all the universe. The main five races are down (but not out.) Their governments have perished and the only hope for the universe is a sector (shipyard included) that has been taken over by pirates of all the races.

The mod starts out with you inn a Pirate Mandaly. A small force of Xenon invae. The emphasis is on capturing. Once you do that you can sell the ship(s) and upgrade.

The pirates would have developed their own carriers and destroyes and TLs that can be purchased. After you take a certain amount of sectors you can purchase a shipyard for one.

I've only just started scripting and have no experience whatsoever editing ships so any help would be appreciated. Tell me what you think.

You can't really expect a serious reply in less than a day on this part of the forum.

I think if done nice and thoroughly, this idea has got potential. As far as I know, there are only few scripts/mods out where you really have to fight your way through. But this for a reason: You have to be really careful with balancing, and need something more than just enemies to ensure a longer "fun"-period for the players. For this, you really need hard work and lots of time - which are both things that have rather shifted over to the X3-S&M-Community. ;)

I can do various scripting stuff. Like spawning a bunch of xenon or khaak ships (with various weapon/equip loadouts so it's harder for the player to find some ulimate ship combination to kill them with). Also set up some patorling pirats mayby... Contact me on msn if theres anything percific scripting wise that you want and i'll see what I can do.


For now i'd suggest just giving the pirate ship yard some of the existing race ships. People are more likly to help by making models and stuff after they have seen some working beta/alpha stuff.

Also start making the universe map. Even if the universe is in chaos you still need to design a working ecomony so that the player can get the weapons and shields he needs (if nothing else)

EDIT: Also contact the authors of existing mods to see if they will allow you to use some of there art for new ships

I don't know how to rename sectors.

The economy will be military based and all in the start sector.

Is there anything that will start the galaxy map off with all the sectors?

I think "x2 editor" has something for editing the galaxy map. Theres a link around somewhere...
I forget what you need to do to change the name and description of a sector. There documentation for it around though.
