Hey Guys,
I just couldn't resist making a video. It is my 1st attempt so it has lots of room for opportunity.
Hope You Like It!

I agree with the mouse thingy and try to close the interface next time
(BTW: Do you mind me adding it to XData?

Just watched it. I think that's the first unofficial X3 vid, very nice graphical showcase. Aslo some pretty good angles on it. Needs a bit of combat, though
...
Oh, and I agree with people about the cursor, you should hide it somewhere ofscreen.

Player. - Feel Free to add this to XData.
John2101 - I used Fraps to capture this footage. Beings my 1st go around, I didn't discover the "No Cursor" Option till I was 1/2 way done with editing.
Fraps Settings: 30 fps w/ Full Size capture.
Roxio Creator 8 is the editing software.
Video Captured to separate hard drive.

I'd say that's a pretty spiffy vid, chief!
But hearing the weapons fire in the distance usually makes me go, "hmmm, who needs their butt kicked?" Which leads me off chasing the sounds and either mopping up or the classic RLH! (where a Xenon invasion force jumped in leaving me enough time to say "SHI...." before my ship blew up!)
But I'll say this, great player video...you'll only get better with practice!
Now I'll be working on making a combat video.

TerrorTrooper - This may help your quality. (And maybe it wont)
Try running X3 at lowest resolution and turn off AA & AF.
Capture the video w/ Fraps using "Full-Size" Option.
Capture the data to a separate hard drive for to reduce the work load.
Compress the video as a Windows Media(TM) Video file.
This should allow the footage to come through reasonably well.
Any tips from others are welcome.

Okay, so i dont think saying "good job" or " i dont like it" is going to help here, so dont take this wrong, im just attempting to give you input.
FPS was nice, quality was decent. Things to things about when your filming.
First off, the pointer in the middle of a shot is annoying.
Turn as much as the hub off as possible.
A good idea would be set your rez to make and in editing cutting the top and botten along with the sides off to get rid of all the info display (running at a higher rez should allow to still have plenty or screen space to work with)
Also, when putting together a film it might be a good idea to have a story board and an objecting. It seems you just piced together some fotage and added some text. The watcher might feel empty and see no real point other than the movie showing the nice graphics engine.
But thats about all i can say about this, other than that it was not a bad first attempt.

Nice...
What program did you use to edit the video, as it seems like there are boring pieces missing out of the middle?
I fancy doing a Split assault vid but haven't got the talent
One suggestion, not really a fault as you were filming your 'home' sector I assume (I don't venture out of Split space so I don't know here that is) use a prettier sector (Avalon/Unknown sector) north and east of loomancketsrats legacy..

I am almost done with my 2nd production and it is quite superior to HOME. It takes alot of what you all have suggested into consideration. I wrote a script to give it more structure and purpose. And the story line should keep people more immersed.Relief wrote:Also, when putting together a film it might be a good idea to have a story board and an objecting. Plus there is more action involved for all of the blood thirsty WARMONGERS.

I will be releasing my next video soon. It is pretty much done, but I would like to wait a bit before it hits the spot light.
It still includes the HUD beings the capture was done before I discovered the "Shift H" Option. For all of you who are unaware, this turns off the HUD.
I have heard many peeps saying they wanted to do their own videos but didn’t feel they had the skills or software to do it.General Dave wrote:I fancy doing a Split assault vid but haven't got the talent![]()
1st off… All the software needed can be obtained for free and some may even be on you computers and you just don’t know it. Of course there are some options may require registration or have limited functionality. But they are great tools to get started with and to see if you really enjoy video creation. If you don’t like it, don’t upgrade.
“And you can have it today at No Risk to you!” ( Famous TV Quote)
For quite some time I felt compelled by watching player videos and even desired to do it myself, but I didn’t have the knowledge or the software. But I just said “What The Heck” and downloaded some free software and searched a few threads from various game forums looking for tips. A few days later… I had my 1st video posted for people to watch. I asked for feedback and people seemed to like it. Plus they had good advice to offer.
