I just hate 1 megabit connections.
Re: brackets, I suppose I'll pin up my predictions:
Mutiny vs. Le Baron: it'll be close but I think the Toastacudas will be the killing blow for the Solano Swarm.
Phinixa vs. perkint: close again. The Centaurs have the upper hand against the Falcons though, due to their Mass Drivers. Once the Falcons are gone, they get to play with (and distract) the Panthers.
Spitzeuk vs. Cpt. Jericho: The Deimos will do quite a lot of damage to the initial fighter charge, I think, and from there everything gets to munch in frigates.
Merdocharr vs. Killjaeden: That's a LOT of Zephyri, and I think they'll be able to lay down almost as much firepower as they can soak up. Also remember, they can do a lot of damage by ramming. Too bad they're not equipped with twin HEPT in the spinal battery...
Gavrushka vs. Chaosimperator: It'll be close, but Syclon Corporation has a larger press of arms in general. It's the Busters with mass drivers that has me sold.
Spychotic vs. 007Bradz: It's hard to argue with the Boreas/Deimos pair-up. The flak and PSG ought to clean the skies before the whole group goes in to swat the Yokos - not much they can do without real capital grade guns.
EmperorJon vs. Alex Vanderbilt: AMENDED due to simulations showing that EJ has a better chance than I thought! However, the Vanderbilt still has a pretty good chance. I'm sticking there for now.
imperium3 vs. kalu: Yes, on paper it looks similar to the Zephyrus fleet, but the Iguana fleet just won't have the firepower or shields to really compete. It'll be a LONG battle and probably won't run right, but imperium takes it.
Stealth Hunter vs. X2-Eliah: 192*4 mass drivers is pretty scary. Stealth will have to start making kills REALLY fast to have a chance - and even a single remaining Solano can kill a lot of really expensive targets given enough time and lucky piloting.
Olterin vs. stemardue: Hard to call this one, actually. But I think the Katanas' lack of M/A-ML's leaves them with too little power against the Phoenix.
GCU Grey Area vs. NUKLEAR-SLUG: Difficult to call - however, assuming the Akuma beats the Raptor, GCU will probably carry the day.
Sticks vs. Algoran: Double Osakas.

xXxSamxXx vs. travisdh1: Osaka on Osaka, travis's will win. It'll be downhill for Sam from there.
Master of the Blade vs. ashkrowe: REALLY close here... but I'm thinking Master because of the specialized loadouts in his capitals.
Aro vs. Triaxx: Aro's got some heavy and very diverse firepower, and I don't think the dragons and mambas (and certainly not the Raptor) will be able to crack them.
Deadbeat_Spinn vs. Me: not calling that.

Why is everyone ignoring my tests in which I won 2/3 times?EmperorJon vs. Alex Vanderbilt: The Odysseus is going to steam-clean everything it looks at. EJ's forces don't have the firepower to stop it, unless the Spits get REALLY lucky.

To be fair, I didn't notice that the Odysseus doesn't have full PSG's all around, which was my assumption.

Can we turn off Collision Detection?
And can we change some priorities?
I think, a cap ship shouldn't try to shoot fighters if other cap ships are around and if it has installed anti-cap-ship-weapons. -.- The damn stupid AI-behavior makes the whole thing a farce.

I noticed.Spychotic wrote:It's supposed to be the 'MSC Battle Fleet', but no-one seems to have noticed.
Spike
*edit; Actually, MSC Combat Wing sounds better. In my game, a 'battle fleet' consists of upwards of 3 Tyrs, 10 Boreas and a couple of Osakas with three Colossus carriers full of 60 Chimaeras each... a paltry four Yokos and eighty-odd smaller ships can hardly be called a 'fleet'...

Sometime ago in fact.....the post where I mentioned your fleet name is probably 20 something pages back. IIRC there was a bit of a debate on what "MSC" stood for.
Luck is not a factor.......and my credits are still on AV.EmperorJon wrote:Why is everyone ignoring my tests in which I won 2/3 times?EmperorJon vs. Alex Vanderbilt: The Odysseus is going to steam-clean everything it looks at. Being able to set turret and general commands would be nice, I agree - some "protect target" and "attack capitals" thrown in would help peoples' fleets function the way they want them to. Though it would keep some peoples' "sand in the face" wings of M5's from functioning well.

It probably would suffice if everbody had spare weapons; the caps do switch guns - seen it in both matches so far.
I'm glad you guys see my fleet winning. I wish I could share your confidence since my winning relies in your opinion on my Daimos. I think, the Daimos will not play an important role in that battle. It's by far the slowest ship in my fleet and has not a single capship molesting weapon in its miserable hull - it was just my reaction to all those massive fighter et al. fleets. The only hope I have are my Discoverers to keep them fighters busy enough to get killed by my fighters and super-heavy bombers (Katanas - yeah, that's why I chose them instead of more fighters or another capship). That's the weak point of the AI: It doesn't target the most reasonable target but simply the next in range.
My hope is that those Shrikes join the battle after my Tigers wrecked Spitzeuks Tiger (the speed if the Shrikes is in my opinion the only weak spot in that fleet).
And MSC stands for (as I've stated before):
Manhandled
Simians
Complaining

I'm going to utterly crush Aro.
I think it'll be pretty close as well. The core of your fleet is based around two M2's while the core of my fleet is based around eight M6's so it's shielding/firepower vs. speed/manuverability. I just hope my flagship (the Deimos) doesn't go bat**** crazy and annihilate it's own support ships.Tenlar Scarflame wrote:Deadbeat_Spinn vs. Me: not calling that. But as I see it, it ought to be a pretty close one!

Still, that's a scary amount of firepower you're up against... I mean, two destroyers? That's just wrong. It's immoral and I can't fathom anyone doing such a thing!...
...
right.

...I'd rather be fighting your Phoenixes (Phoenixi?) than Sticks' Osakas though
