If those are the right way round, it seems the Ray has a good number of landing pads (possibly M) in that cavity.

Would love two variations of Destroyer if those ships at the end of the trailer are both L class - one of the aspects I like of the Terrans.

I wonder what Boron modus operandi will be - e.g Terrans slow and heavily armed, Split hull tank and high firepower. I haven't played since TC or AP so I cannot remember what they were like then. I vaguely remember the ion disruptor was theirs, but the Argon have that now.

Dug up the old Argonopedia info, which concept art and timeline images seem to be based on:
Argonopedia wrote:Boron use environment suits if they are outside their element. These environment suits are made of white translucent and flexible polymer material. The suits have extensions only for the four main limbs. But you can see the other two limbs and the small tentacles as they press from inside the suit, since it's not completely opaque. On top of the suit is a round see through "globe" (like glass – but made of a durable plastic) where their head is. While inside their suits, they do not 'walk' (they're much too weak for that, since they're used to float under water). The suits are equipped with an anti-g device that makes them float everywhere, but they try not to float too obviously, as not to irritate others.

Not yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam if you got an account there. That way you'll be informed the moment you can buy it!

I thought exactly this. I would think, initially, that they wouldn't add a cloak, but you aren't wrong, they show a ship fade in from the dark around it, and I thought the same thing. "Err, is that supposed to be a cloak?"

I'm not sure where I stand on a full on cloaking device in the game, but I'm game to give it a try and see how it works! That is, if that's what we're actually seeing, anyways.

Historically they've been willing to add various new mechanics to the game, but it's generally part of a one-off ship with no scalability. If this one is player accessible I have a feeling it would be the same way.

Or temporary, like the ID camouflage from a certain plot ship that you could fly forever if you never finished the plot. It is a good way to test new mechanics & see if it doesn't break things, because people can be very creative.

No cloak.
They talked about a wave style texture effect.
If you look close, you can see 5his effect on all their ships.
The one at the start is in the dark, that's all.

You can see the stars of the skybox at the start and they disappear as the ship appears. Looking closely, the skybox texture is definitely getting occluded by it. So its either just a video fade trick for coolness, or the ship really is cloaked.
It isnt the animation either. The animation on the hull can be see very clearly with the shot of the 'dolphin' (im guessing) at 1:28, and also even on the shot of the large ships as they pass the gate at 1:55, gotta look very close - it is a subtle green/blue wave that flows across the hull, not lights.

Im thinking the Boron are hiding from something :)

There is REALLY something up with that gate - like maybe the Boron re-activated it themselves? That would get the Ancient's attention.

I'm wondering how those stations are going to work with all the common modules. Stations look awesome with all-Boron parts, but what happens when you drop a drone component and a Claytronics module in? Maybe the Boron have their own versions of those?

The way that connection is bent at 0:50 looks like it might be acting more like a hose than a solid corridor from one module to the other. Maybe we'll be able to just move a part of the station and have the connection deform like a hose would to keep the station part connected? That would sure be interesting!

Love it, and those ships and stations look gourgeous. Now I even more hope you guys give some more time to the art department to give the vanilla ships (looking at you argons) a new paintjob. Just like they gave the teladi miners an overhaul and detail upgrade, pleeeease pretty pleeease take a few ships from the argons and make 'em sexy. No need to change the whole ship, just the finishing touch. They are just too plastic right now.

Agree and Argon could really use some love after the Paranid got some. A Battleship/Fleet Command Ship would be great too for all beside the Terrans!

To be frank, just being up front so people know what I really think, much as the return of the Boron seems like the addition of something missing from X4, I can see what is being done here, in that the Boron were omitted in the first place to make this DLC feasible and while devs are at liberty to market as they see fit, it is my perogative to decide whether I want to buy it.

As many others have already said, do I feel X4 does need UI qol and performance improvement as Tides left me disappointed because of these two issues, qol did not budge and performance went down and I really I did not want to play on. Logically there is no point buying something I dont want to play and I wont.

So the question for me is whether these are significant improvements and enough to make it playable.

If load times are not improved then that will be a deal breaker and I wont want to be lead up the garden path, schmoozed, soft soaped or played so I will be checking and researching the facts about this DLC before deciding whether its worth it.

No amount of bling, hype, immersion (was that a pun?) will change that. I dont want to reward the making of unplayable games, its just not in my interests.
