I feel like a bit of a pillock now; I didn't realise this was already a very hot topic.

My humble opinion is that Egosoft's (excellent) community would flourish with a Nexusmods platform for the scripting and modding folks. I think Nexus would also benefit from the addition of a compassionate and dedicated group of people to its already strong legion of users.

Of course, I'm hoping Dark0ne already knows this as he seems to be an X veteran.

From a practical standpoint, the layout of these forums isn't ideal for browsing large numbers of scripts and mods, and X could certainly benefit from a dedicated format to ease accessibility. If Nexus feels like we're worth their while, so much the better!

As a frequenter of the Nexus sites, I support this idea. Trawling through the forums is not fun.

That's the thing.

It's fairly easy to find what we're looking for.

Nexus could help in the "missing out on stuff we don't know about" category.

I'm new to the X universe and I love it! I've played around with a few mods, your Merge Mod being one, but I'm sure there's tons of stuff I don't know about. (Big fan of AMS and everything you do btw! :D)

I rely mostly on X1TP now that I found it, but I did look at Nexus first just in case.

Anything that isn't listed in said sticky threads. Sometimes xsp ships that are WIP and aren't in the big huge list. Other times it's diving in page by page to see what piques my interest. I notice a lot of the lesser known mods tend to have broken links, making it impossible to acquire them. Nexus would store them indefinitely, unless the author specifically deleted them.

This forum isnt good for finding mods nor tracking them, then again x3 is so much complex for newbie that he will still need to look here eventually.

So guys just go and try for modders who want it, if it works it will work if not thers no harm in that.

Nexus mods would be good for additional content as long as they stay true to the x modding requirements.

However as a nexus life member & supporter (skyrim, oblivion and many others) i would not expect it to remain so as we have seen before. These X forums are the core of the modding community with links to dozens of other sites.

How will nexus make it easier ? The mod manager doesnt work for over 50% of nexus members and will nexus expect cycrow to remake his excellent plugin manager nexus mod friendly ? to say the least they will release their own.

Nexus is a great, dont get me wrong, but if this is an issue for you to find stuff on these forums, good luck with following the forum discussion on the nexus if chasing detailed discussions over scripts.

The modding community HERE help each other overcome bugs, add ideas, test and tweak to suit each and everyones personal game. On the nexus NO ONE helps if we need to mod someone's script to make it work.. its always "i support only this mod/script of mine" and not many care if it fits other mods as long as their own works.

That attitude doesnt work in this community .. just look at how many modders try to assist players get their own game tweaked using 3rd party scripts ... Here we have co operation, on the Nexus we dont.

Use the Nexus to host scripts and mods if you wish, but if you dont have an egosoft topic regarding the nexus item i certainly wont bother using it as there will be many many problems with unaupported bugs, as we see already from nexus mods.
Started playing at X Beyond the Frontier and Tension, and I'm still here at X4. Brilliant games until Rebirth and now x4 manages to regain some of the past glory. Lets hope x5 continues in same vein and not another "rebirth".

Hi Dark0ne :)

Having an XNexus would be beneficial for all; modders, users and for Egosoft.

However there is some work to be done. Nexus' downloader is ok but we need a mod manager/installer (pokes *Cycrow*) and some updates for other utility mods. Also textfile etc. compatibility could/should remain here because this is where mods/scripts are created. XNexus would be merely an upload/download site.

Greetings DarkOne,

I for one would welcome our new Nexus overlo....wait, wrong speech.

I often use the Nexus sites for my Bethesda games and X-com. Having a X3 TC/AP Nexus site would be lovely to have. Bear in mind that 2013 will see the release of X-Rebirth which would then require a completely seperate Nexus page.

Thanks for stopping by!

I think that we should have an X: Rebirth nexus, and that the mods for the older games be left with the status-quo.

As long as we get nude spaceship mods, I'm okay with this.

Yes, this is sorely needed. A forum is no place to host mods and scripts as it is incredibibly difficult to first find a relevant mod then you run the real risk that the mod is no longer available for download from the source.

I see work has now begun but unfortunately some Modders are not supportive of the idea. :(

As a Nexus Premium member, I would really like a Nexus for X Rebirth (and possibly other X games).

Haven't bought the game, awaiting user reviews and such after release. But I like Nexus for mods and if the game is good I would personally like to use Nexus for supported mods.

As A nexus user, and x2/3 player, I would also like to see a x nexus. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the forum here, how ever some times trying to find specific mods and nod updates is very difficult.

Besides how incompatible all X Albion Prelude and down is with nexus structure. It would be a total nightmare trying to figure out who ate whos ids.

Also on a more personal note... nexus is to me turned into nude mod collection. Or at best re-textures of re-textures. Finding something that isn't in some way or form is re-texturing is solely based on knowing what I'm looking for (un-official patches and the like). It is not any easier to find something on nexus then checking list there. Its good for pictures... of naked asses and bikini armor... sure... but what pictures you are going to post for tweaks? Ai settings?

I'd rather stick with cycrows manager to keep track of what I care about rather then sifting though hundreds of Yisha re textures with various amount of boobs and asses exposed.
Am I a bit dramatic?... Yea sure. But the truth is still there. Its hard to find something useful in the myriad of things that get posted on nexus.

Also ... tes nexus community is.... well... I like my egosoft forum trolls more. No offense. Maybe it would turn differently then tes community, who knows. But thats just my 2cents.

Fun fact... Dawnguard came out. Before I even tried it. I went and checked all spells for spellabsorption nuisance "bethesda 20 years later still can't remember to make summons ignore spell absorption" checked nexus 2 weeks later couldn't find a mod that did that... or at least to all the spells or just spells w/o extra baggage :P

I too am a Nexus member and also am quite comfortable using the Egosoft Mod forums.
But I think it would be in the interest of the game to have a Nexus site.
It's not only a place to aquire mods but it's also a place that may encourage modders of other games to challenge themselves in the Space genre.

I vote yes to a XRebirth Nexus site.
