How's the Valkyrie coming along Hawk ?

hi i was playing with the new galactica you've made and noticed that only the left and right turrets are working, is there a remedy for this?

The Valkyrie is coming slowly but surely. I emailed the author to see if he did a low poly version but havent had any reply at all. I've figured out a quick way to load a high polycount scene in max now so I can make corrections where necessary. Im working on turrets and engines for her however Easter is over now and its back to studying also.
As for Galactica Ive made custom turrets out of Coxxons turret that he included and it works perfectly (both turret barrels fire). Im not happy with the camera problem on her still (top and bottom turrets) so want to rectify that and also redo her engines as well as give her a slightly different description etc in tships and the 440001.xml so people can load her in without losing savegames (hopefully).
Unfortunately atm though the Valkyrie also weighs in around 12 megs on the main bod file. I can get it down to around 8 but Id be killing the model as the parts that would be deleted (which are pipes and some plating around the engines and upper hull) just make the model look so wrong when they are not in place. No matter what though I am suspecting she will take longer to load than Galactica does and unless someone does a low poly model I cant really do anthing about it other than do one myself from scratch. Considering how long it took me to do a P38 Lightning

for my course Id hate to even hazard a guess at how long that would take.

I've just discovered this excelent mod :D

I'm a big BSG fan. :)

Everything seems to work apart from the fact that no cockpits are showing up for any ships.

Does anyone know what I've done wrong?

EDIT: Also any reason why the Galactica and Pegasus are extremely unbalanced? 20 10GJ shields for example :o

1) Hawk didnt put any cockpits on his/her ships.
2) These are .xsps, if you dont like them, edit them with the ship installer.

Hawks, is the current and new BSG download going to overwrite the old BSG ships, or will it be listed as a new ship? I'm looking forward to using it, without messing up my saved games.

Ahhh but shouldn't the cockpit mod still put default cockpits on the ships I mean i have no cockpits on any ships I fly.
I suppose its cause I can only run one mod at a time and the ships and the cockpits are two different mods?

Also yes I will modify the ships when I get the hang of the ship creator :)

Edit: It all works now I just had to remake the base mod that being the cockpit mod :)

Ok Ive decided to release a Beta of the Valkyrie so you guys can see what Im facing with this. Currently I have a couple of texture issues to get around, and the engines decided to turn into a full body so Ive taken them out for now.
This has Coxxons Turrets on in it fully working (Yes I am putting them onto Galactica also). Due to the placement of the turrets on this ship Ive had to come up with a different approach for cockpits.
The top and bottom cockpits are still giving me a run around but they arent sticking straight up.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a converted High Poly Model.

When you buy this ship or script it in it does take a bit longer to load into the game than the Galactica. Roughly about 1 -2 mins depending on your system. So dont think your game has crashed or frozen its only loading the model in and the same might happen when you take it to a different sector, which I havent tried yet.

Im still playing about with the idea of doing the next Galactica update as a different ship so people dont lose save games however it means renaming a lot of things and editing.

Wow, she looks pretty amazing, nice work Hawk. Some engine effects and she would be great I reckon. Nice work mate !

However, when sitting in the front L/R turrets, they wont fire for me. Same goes for the up/down turrets. The main L/R turrets work fine for me.
Doing a close up fly by inspection, I cant actually see any guns except on the left and right sides next to the launch bays.

Docking works just fine.

Not bad at all Hawk! - you've done a lot of work to get this in-game.

The high poly count defnietly gives this model a more polished edge.

I see what you mean texture-wise, while inside the landing/launch bays I think they come slightly transparent. (Though it be my eyesight!! - long day!!.

Great work though - can't wait to see the next development..

i don't mind that has a high poly count makes the model more beatifull
and i don't realy care about load times so please keep it at this high poly count

I have to agree it dose look amazing ! And if that’s a beta I can’t wait to see the final product.

I especially like how you’ve configured the front turrets should make for some very interesting battles.
But I also ran into the same trouble as TiggerBandit with the turrets not shooting,
The ones that did looked like the stock turrets to me not the cool Coxxon type.

And in regard to xeon_1’s comment – just spare a thought to those of us with the rattly old machines that almost implode trying to load it.
