And then what? I heard you had to convert the image from some strange format.
How can one player flying one ship defeat a big gang of pirates?

Good flying, or reinforcements. Lots of reinforcements.

TC images are saved in Bitmap which are a little large for downloading on slower internet conections so if you covert them to Jpeg this reduces the size of the file greatly.

It's not in 'some strange format'. It's usually in Windows BMP format, which while a bit large to send over the web, is perfectly viewable on your computer without any extra software. I use a lot of mine as desktop backgrounds and slideshow screensavers right out of the screenshot folder (which, btw, is located in your My Documents/Egosoft/screenshots folder).

If he still plays Reunion then it is in a non standard image format and you will need software that can read the format. Just do a search for the file extension or check the forum here for popular programs that can read the files.

On a side note I've never posted in this thread but I love all the pictures I've seen. I just started playing Reunion a few weeks ago and all the nice screens lately makes me want to try TC. Those last few images by Floydian1 are especially superb.

The best program to view TGA screens is IrfanView. It's free and contains a lot of possibilites to convert images to many other formats. I use it as my standard picture viewer.

How do you convert image files to JPEG? And how do you post pics here?

You just open the image file with IrfanView, go to 'File' and select 'Save as'. There a dialogue box pops up and on the bottom you can choose the file format. Choose JPEG there. On the right side you can even choose the quality of the picture. I recommend something between 95 and 85%, so the file doesn't get to big and the quality is still very good. Just give the file a name and press 'Save' and you have a converted JPEG image file which can be opened by nearly all existend image viewer programs.

To upload the image, just go to www.imageshack.us and click on 'Browse'. The dialogue box pops up and you can choose the image file you want. Click on 'Open' and then on 'Host it'. Then you should get a few links. I'm not sure, but I think the link on the bottom is the right one to post your uploaded screen on forums. I can't guarantee that, because I have my own webspace for uploaded pictures.

Floydian1 was this one taken in the Unknown Sector that requires the UJD ? I ask since I don't recall seeing that background in any of the other systems.

Nope, this backround is rather common in normal sectors and can be seen, e.g. in PTNI HQ or Profit Center Alpha or Xenon Sector 472. As there is a Q on the screen I guess he took the screen in 472.

you can open the bitmap with MSPaint and then simply Save as.. a jpeg
(it's one of the save options..)

then open an account at ImageShack (it's free) - load your jpeg up to that site
and they will provide you with various URL links that you can cut/paste to post the image in the forum..

there are limitations on size and weight of images in the forum- see the Egosoft FAQ for full details..
