I am having the same issue. Only like 1 or 2 of the scripts work. Its almost like the manager just cant find them, even though it says they were installed. I cant figure this thing out. I have uninstalled it, but when reinstall it, all the scripts and such I had before are back. I have no clue what to do to fix this...russbo wrote:OK, I hate to be a pain in the ass here, but I'm finding this new plug in manager to be a bit confusing. It's all very impressive in what it does. And also in some of the things I didn't expect it to do.
ON Win 7, 64 ultimate, new install of X3TC:
My downloaded scripts lived in users/me/documents/downloads/games/egosoft/x3tc I had downloaded quite a few to restart a new universe.
Running plug in manager lite as administrator, I installed a few scripts, after telling the plug in manager where they lived.
It all worked, apparently.
Then, when restarting plug in manager lite, I found that the scripts that I had installed, were not found by the plug in manager.
I also discovered that my folder of downloaded scripts had been erased (or moved, to who knows where, still can't find them). Scripts, and folder they were in, gone.
Am I missing something with the way this new system works?

I can not figure this thing out. I have been trying for hours and hours. Uninstall, reinstall... over and over. For some reason I can only get a few of the scripts to work. Others it just doesnt read or find or something, I dont know. Is there a place I can download the previous version of this thing? This version (AND Beta) doesnt read the scripts I am looking to use. *sigh*

Not listing all installed packages
I have noticed a few others ask this but I could not fine a response.
Why do some packages not show up in the install packages list. It seems every one I have tried to create never do. and a number of the ones I downloaded also do not.
for example installing Race Invasions add's it to the list of installed packages. but installing Sector & Background Mod does not.
I tried making an spk for MARS and it also does not show up.
It's hard to mess around and figure out what scripts you want if uninstalling them requires a file search for all the cryptic xml file names.

sounds like windows has locked the directory, so the plugin manager is being diverted to a temporary place without realising.Remenents wrote:I can not figure this thing out. u could try adjusting the security, or moving to another place outside of program files

Re: Not listing all installed packages
any package with a mod in will be installed in a different way, you will find these in the mod browser instead.BladeFireLight wrote:I have noticed a few others ask this but I could not fine a response.

as you can only enable one mod at a time

I am not sure what you mean exactly. I am not great with computers... is there any chance you could break this down Barney Style for me?Cycrow wrote:sounds like windows has locked the directory, so the plugin manager is being diverted to a temporary place without realising.Remenents wrote:I can not figure this thing out. Basically, he's saying that you should either:
Adjust your UAC (User account control) setting in windows. Google for it, I'm lazy.
Or:
Uninstall PM, and then re-install it -- but when the installer asks where you want to install to, tell it something like "C:\Games\X3\PluginManager".
(I'd say to just move it, but he would most likely need Admin rights, and could possibly bork PM registry entries)
The reason you're having issues is that in windows vista and 7, there is a shoddy attempt (better than none) at multiuser accounting. Areas like system folders, and program folders, are protected from being written to, even by the programs themselves. That is why when you install, or when you update and such, you often have a box that comes up saying something about possible damage to your computer, and you have to give 'administrator privileges' to continue.

Best thing to do is install X3 and all games to a dir like C:\Games\...
Also install any programs like the Plugin Manager to something like C:\GameMods\...
This way it prevents UAC (User Acces Control) having a hissy fit at everything.

So I think I have found what the issue was. I had Reunion and TC installed on my PC. I removed Reunion and installed it onto my external hard drive and then uninstalled TC and everything to do with the packagers. Then I reinstalled TC to my PC along with the plugin manager. Now all of my scripts and such I am downloading are showing up. I think what was happening is when I was trying to install the scripts for the TC Manager, the install was getting confused between Reunion Manager and TC Manager. Now that I have them in separate places, everything is once again right in the X Universe.

Ahhh. Well, that is good, hope that everything remains well in the X-Universe on your PC.
I also have a request, that I've been wanting to ask for a while. Does anyone have any interest in getting some of the more commonly used stuff out there, i.e. MARS, CMOD, SRM, FFDN, NoFog, lowpolyroids, etc (just thinking of some off the top of my head), and packaging them to SPK format?
Has anyone already done some of these, and mind putting them somewhere like the x3tc scripts repository?

Apparently i have the same issue as Remenents..
And i also have the wrong game issues, sometimes even with 2.7.1 certified scripts.
MANY installed scripts do not show up in the Plugin manager window of installed content after restarting of the manager...
I have a virgin copy of 2.7.1 X3TC.. And no X3 reunion
V1.20 Plugin manager. "run as administrator"
X3 Editor 2..
All installed in another directory out of program files.
UAC is completely turned off.
I don't have some issues others have above..
-downloaded scripts disappearing after install
///////////////////////////////
Here's my story.. And i tried it 3 times.. reinstalling a virgin copy and then go straight to using the PM.
I have around 50 % of all the scripts available for download. Most of them are 2.7.1 certified.
-I did not install a separate EMP.
--Scripts are installed one by one, from libraries then scripts.
---The "wrong game" occurs randomly, even for the 2.7.1 certified.
----Scripts can be "correct game" and then "wrong game" between the 3 trials.
-----Cyrow's scripts showed up as "wrong game" sometimes too..
However most with "Wrong game" could still be installed, certified by a pop up confirmation window that the script is installed.
Double checked by opening up the SPK file and my game folders to confirm the install personally.
Those without the confirmation window are not installed into the game folders. These scripts sometimes show themselves in the installed window of the Plugin manager.
There are no apparent issues with fake patches installed through the PM.
Lastly.. 1.30 RC1 did exactly the same as the above... inclusive of "MANY installed scripts do not show up after restarting of PM"

there are only a few minor problems that seem to be taking forever to sort out, which is y its still called a beta.
but its pretty close to a stable version, and once the problem is sorted out, it'll be released properly
was hoping to get it finished soon, but its difficult trying to track a bug that only seems to effect a handful of people

Activating Multiple Mods through Plugin Manager?
I am a bit confused on one thing.... I've installed some mods for X3 TC, some of them from the X-Superbox bonus, and some external. However. Can I only activate the one mod at a time?
I want to activate the Engine Colours + Particle Trails mod, the Cap Ship Shielding Upgrade, Killerogs Mod, Logain Industries Freight/Production mods, X2 Ship Callback Mod, the X3TC Boron Lusca M7, and the X3TC Paranid Thanatos M6.
Basically, is only one mod loaded at a time, or can I load all of them at once? I am just confused with how the Plugin Manager is handling it
