Hey Egosoft - what's with this incredibly wasteful approach?


Please add Antigone station modules to the Open World - these modules are really cool for station building!

Especially, if those L and XL housing spires would provide more population space than regular L and XL habitats - this would be neat reward/feature and not only purely cosmetic!

I BELIEVE SOME of them can be taken after you finish timelines, there is a mission look for the new faction: )

Why would you say this ?
All the Gates are Dead & nothing is there ?

" The "creative" custom gamestart, which marks your game as modified, gives you access to all of the unlocks even without completing the story. "

Neat - I guess I'll stop commenting Timeliens untill I fully finish it, but those new station modules will definetly increase chances for positive reviews.

Finished Timelines, found all ships in the Open Universe, did their research, including the Xenon equipment... and now I find out that I can't use all those new exciting weapons/equipment on any of my ships?

There were understandable reasons to deny the Commonwealth the high-powered Terran weapons, or limit some of the Boron equipment to Boron ships. I get it, some distinction was needed.

But I really dislike this trend of making ALL the new stuff completely unavailable. Xenon and their equipment were made by humans, and you really stress the point that the new capturable Xenon ships are the old Terraformer models from the past, which - unlike the newer models - all even come with a cockpit/bridge made for human use. The old Terran ships were made by Terrans, the HEPT is a Commonwealth weapon widely used not even that long ago. So why can't we use the new Electromagnetic weapons/turrets on Terran ships, the HEPT on Commonwealth ships, the old man-made Xenon weapons on other ships than Xenon?

You have added such a nice variety of new stuff to experiment with, and it's all so incredibly limited. Wasn't one of your major intentions for X4 to make ships modular, so that you could collect, and then mix and match equipment? Building our own ships is part of the core gameplay, part of the freedom we as players always had. Why are you going out of your way to take away options and limit everything?

Now the Commonwealth can't use its own weapons, the Terrans can't use their own weapons on their own ships; it's absurd and frustrating tbh. I finished Timelines and wasn't exactly a fan of it, but I started to feel better about it, when I collected my rewards in the Open Universe. I thought that at least some good came out of it... oh boy, only for you to deliver that one last kick in the last possible moment. Because we can't have fun without heaps of arbitrary limits it seems.

I mean, what are you afraid of? It's a singleplayer game, the AI sticks to its design templates, other than the player nobody will use any of those cross-faction equipment combos. It makes no sense at all. Just make it available and let the player decide if and where they use the new stuff they unlocked. That's the least I expect from a sandbox game.

Can someone explain what items i can expect? Like Items to modify ships or just things like EMP bombs?

Agreed, with the addition that they should be added to the base 7.0 game. Locking useful & generic building modules behind a completely unrelated DLC is kind of scummy compared to Egosoft's prior standard.

I don't know about you, whether or not we can unlock these doesn't scratch my curiosity at all, just like the ships, they are tokens, small toys for the players, perhaps screenshot worthy and nothing else.
To be clear, I had the same criticism about the Trade Station modules we just can't build by ourselves, including that Teladi one that was requested for ages now.

If the Argon factions can't build it by themselves after buying the DLC, it simply just stinks. :(

You should disable the engines of the Xen. H, everytime it is mentioned. The Split Colony ship is fast, it will get out of weapon range. Dont forget to use your missiles wise...like engines and against Xenon who want to destroy Col.ships engines.
I did and still did not get enough points to pass it . How do I know which xenons attack engines? They are not marked for me , I have 30+ of them, which I have to pick? There is no way new players can pass this, this is not a tutorial, this is final exam, completely unsuitable for new players. They would not even know what engines are mentioned -- they will be fried by xenons before they have a chance to figure it out, they would not even know what types of xenons are and what the target priorities are, when to use missiles etc. Do you really expect new players know all that? Why would not you show video how to do it - as a real tutorial? As for Egosoft, if this is marked as a for new players then make sure 1 star (pass) is guaranteed for any player.

When it comes relevant, everything is marked on the radar.
You can slow the game down, or press "pause", so you can observe everything and chill down.
Yes, it is one of the hardest missions.

Annoyingly, those new (old?) Argon modules don't seem to show up in the station design sim. Hopefully an oversight, because really, it defeats the purpose of the sim if we still have to load into the game to design things.

Sapporo question :

7.10 Beta 2 added the new Light Barrage Missille.

If we load up the Sapporo with both ..
260 Light
200 Heavy

Will the Sapporo choose which to use depending upon the target?
Or is it just manually configured to use one or the other?

(Sorry if this is an obvious thing, I don't have much experience with X4 missile use, as historically they are a bit too micro management for my taste)

I personally bought and played this DLC before commenting, and I found it terrible.

This DLC represents the exact opposite of what the community expected in most aspects and forced the player to play some of the most frustrating aspects of the game to unlock new content. The waste of assets and development time is nonsensical and only comparable to the online features in terms of disappointment.

Please include ships, station modules, sectors, factions, and all other elements of these scenarios in the base universe, removing the unlock mechanics and the uniqueness of those elements.

The only reason I haven't asked for a refund is because I sincerely hope Egosoft will use these scenarios for easy beta testing of 7.50 and 8.0.

7.0 content was much superior in terms of quality, and the development time spent on Timelines could have been spent on several other aspects that would have been more meaningful, such as:
- Uniforms or custom uniforms for the player faction.
- Revamping and deepening of the diplomacy system.
- Correction of builders' textures.
- Procedurally or randomly generated universe map or sectors and/or factions.
