As you can see i`m get a usage of GPU of 25% of a framerate of 38-40. As too the normal of 9 framerate i was getting explained in my thread.
Dame it feels like I'm running a GTX 100 lol
There is a Framerate limitation upto 60 put still with a GPU usage only at 25% it should show 60 fps but slightly higher GPU usage.

All the best to Egosoft to patch this issue up.

just remember that the game is CPU bound and not GPU bound.

so if your GPU isnt being fully used, it means that its waiting on the CPU to catch up

I can expect that but I have this.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 980 @ 3.33GHz (12 CPUs), ~4.0GHz
Memory: 12288MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 12280MB RAM
Page File: 2448MB used, 22108MB available

I can except that put i have this :-

I will check to see on CPU usage on cores used. put with even with this Spec I shouldn't get this problem. TC is fine with high Framerate.

ok here is the Cpu usage in game in a sector of a few complex.

So I don't seem to think that's its the CPU.

you have 12 cpus. So full load on one cpu will be about 8%.

so it looks like the game is indeed using the full cpu load it can

Well it looks like this is the issue, most people have dual cores and quad cores theses days.

A game theses days should not be only allocated to one cpu, that's like having a lower performance on a very low spec machine. As I remember right its been said AP should be better on high end spec machines.

Unless I get a 3 GHz on a single core it be OK right !
So I think Egosoft really needs to view this serious problem.
I think you explained the issue of low FPS performance for most people with end spec machines Cycrow.
I do hope that Egosoft will sort it out as its ruining my game play. As I always loved playing the X series.

That's easier said than done. Multi core support has to be built explicitly into the game engine from the ground up. Hence the new game, "Rebirth".

i agree there may be an issue with AP but you need to remember AP is simply an expansion for a game which was built on an engine in the days when you were loaded if you had a duel core cpu lol it was imposibble for them to make AP multicore compliant without a total refit of the x3 engine, hench why they are feveloping rebirth on a brand new modern game engine, if they had to go to the extent of re-writing the x3 engine for AP they simply would not have bothered making AP because of the time and cost.

also no game currently released i know of acctualy utalises any more than 4 core properly at a time. 12 core machines are only realy meant for design programs that can utalise that many thread effectivly.

for gaming your better off with an overclocked quad core. I doubt even Rebirth will be optimised for any more than 4 cores.
I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

You should need to downgrade you machine to get better performance.
But I agree what you said there, it is a old game, which was written with single cores and dual core machines. maybe one day when microsoft get there fingers out of there sockets and allocate hyper-thread programming ,which I was reading on a thread. lol get it `Thread`.

Well lets hope that they upgrade X-Rebirth for us.

I dont think its a 12 Core machine, more a 6 Core one with Hyperthreading. But that does not change the problem here.
I really hope that rebirth will use more than 4 cores effectively, as all new games should. 4 to 6 Core CPU's with Hyperthreading are pretty normal these days for gamer PC's....

I hope they fix it soon

Damn, I was wondering what happened to my FPS. It dropped to 17 from unknown value as I didn't bother to run FRAPS when everything was ok. I tried lowering graphic settings with no effect and even overclocked CPU a bit. If there is no patch soon I will try this method.

The file I use normally

And the file I use temporarily to completely reboot my bugged FPS
This is great workaround, but I don't seem to be able to download "The file I use normally" - it would be nice to have *some* missions so I can easily get my rep back up again after boarding.

The download link is working for me. You have to 'save target as', as otherwise your browser tries to open the xml file rather than save it.

Also, you may be interested in the alternative way of fixing the slowdown: using the MD reset and then re-enabling the Main plot

Thanks Coruskane: I've forgotten that the right click was used for more than just firing weapons.

And thanks Glenmcd and anyone else who worked on this mod - the improvement is amazing!

I finished the plot in Albion Prelude, didn't really like the limited version of TC so have gone back to my saved games with X3TC before AP and was hoping this mod would work there.

Since in my origional X3TC game installation (I am not using Steam anymore) there is no "Addon" directory in my X3 Yerran Conflict directory.
Not sure if it would work, I created an Addon folder, then a Director forlder in that and installed the .xml file.
I went through the install process using both the first file then replaced it with the second file etc.
I have not noticed any improvement in the frame rate in X3TC doing it this way. Perhaps X3TC doesn't even recognize the Addon directory and I need to modify one of the .cat/.dat files in the X3TC directory with this mod, but I am not prepared to try that.
Does anyone know if it will work in X3TC without steam/AP?
I really don't like using Steam anymore, too many ad's and I am finished with the AP extension to X3TC and back to my origional game.
My framerate however, is making the game unplayable.

X3 in Steam and X3 from a disc are identical games.

The addon folder is not recognized by the x3tc.exe. Only the x3ap.exe.

You mod TC the way you did before AP.

Could you offer a link as to how I mod this in X3TC? And does this work in TC as it does in AP?

I created the 'Director" directory in the root X3TC folder and put the mod .xml file there but it had no effect on my frame rate either.
Do I still need the "Director" folder?
Thanks

does the fix from the 2nd post work safely with XRM and some other scripts like MBRR, pirate guild and yaki armada?

It isn't necessary now, as the MD bug has been patched.

Return to “X³: Terran Conflict / Albion Prelude - Scripts and Modding”
