Concern of high end Spec Machines using high end Graphic Card !

Post by Maxumous »

Will the game be using more than one CPU bound. If not most of us be having problems. All explains in AP S&M thread.

I would like to see good performance within a game and I love the X-series. As been noted in the thread High End Spec machines suffer with One CPU bound using graphic cards as they dont use much GPU with the graphic card. Be Nice to here your views on this situation.
Please take a look at the thread.
If you can not use hyper-threads due to microsoft then you going to need more usage on GPU to get Better performance on high end Machines.
Let the Force be with you Egosoft ;)

If you have read the info they've released (at the top of the page) you would have seen that they are multi-threading the game. This means that more than one part of the game can execute at a time allowing multiple processors to operate at once with it.

In a single thread game like X3 only one processor can operate with the main game thread at a time. Otherwise you end up with problems like one processor adding 2+2, and the next processor getting an instruction to add 5 to the previous result. It cannot until the first processor finishes.

In a multi-threaded game, the programmers have divided up how the program operates intelligently such that conflicts where the results from one processor are not needed by another immediately very often or at all.

As for it being locked to one processor, that is an OS call. Your operating system handles it based on how many threads the game uses.
