A Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
To the X series team:
I wish you all the best and continued success where ever it may lead. I also want to say that you are one group and this is one series that has my full support.
The dedication and support you have given us, the users, is unprecedented. When we have needed help, you have. When we have asked questions, you answered. And when we wanted more, you delivered!
I ask only one thing. Please do not change. Companies and people like you are so rare now. Being a US Navy disabled veteran, I know first hand what the real world has come to. You are one small bright spot in all the turmoil because you have supported us as much as we have supported you.
I am not a big gamer and in fact I am one that only enjoys a few solid titles that I use to escape reality once in a while for enjoyment. The X series from the first to X3 is the one and ONLY title I have bought all versions of. It is immersive, engageable, it can be as simple to play as you want or as complicated as some of us like.
For me it is the one true space simulation title that is truly worth following and supporting. For this series I would only have one request as well. Continue the formula. I am not a online player, I am not into multi-player and I want every bit of functionality and capability you can pack in. From the littlest to the most extravagent function... this is my kind of game/simulation. When all my work is done, it is late at night I love powering up my X3 fleet and exploring the farthest reaches of space by myself.
Again, all the best for the holidays to you and your families. I look forward to all the new and future incarnations you are sure to add to the X series.
.. and thanks for the Christmas present!!!!
A thankful X3 player....

The "Uplink Update" for modders
Actually the plan was to release the mighty tool with the next project, now Egosoft decided to backport it to X³ and offer it to the community with this update. It is a tool to customise your game even better than anything possible until now. So it is surely of interest to all gamers and certainly scripters, but modders will welcome it the most, because they are no longer bound to the Script Editor, which is quite complicated to use in that regard. Now you can easily add new missions to your game or modification. The tool is called "Mission Director" (or simply MD), and was announced some time ago

None of that quote identifies how or where to find it except that it comes with the latest patch, which I have already applied. Am I supposed to dig through previous X-News articles? Is it an executable? Is it a utility in the game itself? It would have taken a fraction of the effort to just tell me where its at than to quote me, reply, navigate to a news post, copy, and paste the useless blurb into this thread. You're usually more helpful than this. I'm confused. I wasn't asking how tomake missions. I was just curious what I have to do to call it up as the immediately available information wasn't adequate. I actually thought I'd be popping back into this thread to find something simple like "it's called from within the game" or "it's a seperate download".

its part of the game, information on how to use it will be available in the scripting and modding forum.ncc386 wrote:None of that quote identifies how or where to find it except that it comes with the latest patch, which I have already applied. Yes, the Devs say "next year".
X-News 22 in Summer 2006 featured the MD and even had example piece of XML. Toastie were given the "joy" to write the manual at that time. But that was the plan revealed back then, and you know how plans change.
One can get "into" MD ingame already, but lacking "missions", you can only "Reset" it.
