Thanks for the "Get well"'s everyone. :)

As has been mentioned, the mod will continue full steam ahead without any delays. I dealt with mostly administrative tasks and public relations, so my having to leave didn't interrupt the more important work. ;)

Well Aragon in whatever capacity you worked, you have left a great legacy here with very many grateful fans. Doing public relations with us lot would be enough to make most people feel low! Good luck with whatever you do next and we hope that you will keep an eye on us and the team and that we will hear from you from time to time in this forum. Cheers.

Does this affect the regular story line?

Post by Warsheded »

I am new to the game and I was thinking about installing this, but not at the cost of the games regular plot. Does this change the regular plot at all? Can I still play through the regular game?

1) Thanks guys works fine and capped my first prat M7 (Carrack) yesterday so all is well.

2) To poster above: it is a whole new game altogether, perhaps better but it is customary to playthrough the vanilla first. Also this does not run the vanilla plots nor does it run many of it's own plots, at least for nown (beta phase). However it is thoroughly playable and enjoyable so do not let the tittle "beta" scare you away.

Sorry if this (most likely has) been asked before, but do i need to install the Bonus Package before installing this mod, or are those things already included?
I know the turbo booster etc are, but what about the CAG etc?

Reason i'm asking is because the install instructions simply mention clean installs of X3TC, and nothing else :)
And is the Pure X hud mod compatible, or will some UI elements (new station icons?) be broken?
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=299546

Also some feedback, holy hell Aldrin is a beautiful sector..... It is so good to see modders art teams understand the concept of beauty, as opposed to just "lookz k00l".
It's easy to make something look cool, but to make something look truly beautiful requires real artistic talent. (does not have to be technical talent, but talent in understanding what beauty is, unrelated to polycount or flashy effects).

These are without a doubt the most beautiful sectors in any space game, ever. The planets in EVE Online look pretty great too, technically. But what you guys have created is something that goes beyond just technical flash, and as a result of said beauty it feels more real somehow.
In the same sense that looking at a real photo of space or earth from orbit conveys more beauty than any cgi picture ever does.

Bonus pack is not compatible - and a few things are made redundant by our mod :)

You can get most of the scripts from bonus pack by looking for their latest versions in the thread, and seeing if there are compatible versions (all the ones from Lucike [CAG], for example, should have new compatible versions).

That hud mod... well, you can try to install it after you made sure the mod works on it's own - I think it won't be compatible, but you can always try.

X-tended help

Post by Neverr »

Sorry if there is another post out there about this but I couldn't find one, is there a way to un-install the x-tended mod? I'd be fine with losing old game files and such. Frankly I loved x-tended for x3, but I hate it with a passion for x3:tc. I don't like the new galaxy, how artificial it feels, how many empty sectors there are, etc. Obviously that is me just ranting but to the point, if anyone knows a definite answer to this I would truly appreciate it.

Uninstall X3. Delete manually all that's left in the folder. Install X3.

Any plans for release of the XTC soundtrack? Or do I have to rip off it from XTC files?

Xtended: terran Conflict starter help

Post by Neotic »

Hello, just decided to return to the X universe, through the impressive-looking Xtended game mod, and i must say i'm having some difficulties.

I started with the Argon Emigrant game since it seemed most appealing, but i can't seem to get started.

Once i enter the game i am in an Terran sector, where no one seems to be willing to let me dock or even talk to me, same way with the adjacent sectors, so no missions or even random bad-guys to get them to like me better.

What am i missing here? ^_^

(not sure if this is even the right forum for this but seemed so.)

Looky

"ripping" soundsa bit drastic though, its in the soundtrackfolder of your X3TC +XTC installation folder as mp3 ;)

you should have posted in the XTC thread, that would be the most correct place =P

1st hint: look at the sectormap. You want to go to the next argon sector.
2nd hint: If thats too far for your liking, pick another start. The argon start isn't exactly the easiest. Boron or Teladi start is decent.

Loving it.

I chose the Teladi start on the easy difficulty setting. Have about 28 hours ingame time now. For the first time ever I have set the beginning for an empire.
Never enjoyed myself this much in vanilla, even with scripts.

Thank you guys so much!

The only thing i dont like so far is how incredibly energy starved the ships seem to be. (granted, i havent flown much more than fighters yet)
It's like, using the best weapons that can be fitted on the ship is no longer possible, the energy just runs out in 2 seconds, literally.

I like how it used to be in vanilla or the CRM, if you got the cash, you get more power (better weapons). Here it seems, if you got the cash, you get squat. You can still only use PAC's because that is the only thing that lets you fire in reasonable bursts without running out of energy before the first pass.

I guess my point is, i dont like how gaining wealth no longer directly gives you more power. I feel i have no purpose to strive to afford new great guns, since i cant use them anyway. It's taking choice away from the player.

Any tips, ideas? If i am extremely totally wrong, please tell me! :D

I think this is by design, so you can choose between sniping an enemy with a few well placed shots, or barraging them with less damaging shots.
This way you're only effective against ships of your own type or lower (or perhaps 1 higher if you're good), instead of the vanilla way where you could down a Q in an M3.

Game Crashes

Post by shamas_the_wise_shaman »

Hey,

I have installed X3TC, patched to the latest patch, installed XTC 1.2a and the hotfix. When I start a new game it freezes not long afterwards.

In your manual it states that the game load screen should be different, and that there should be an XTC flag next to the "New Game" option in the menu. Also, I have found reference on the forum to Teladi and Boron game starts, but my game only has the generic X3TC game starts... Could this have something to do with it?

Here is my dxdiag output, just in case it's relevant:
