I would certainly hope not... The cat/dat files can't be 'installed to', they can only be written as a whole, and overwritten. Since xtc uses 14 already, anything installing 'to' 14 would royally screw stuff up (unless it's a full update to xtc, come to think of it).

What bonus mission - the one steam added?

It may be, that it is possible to create a "clean" version from a current Steam-install, using this way:
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 88#3624388

However, even if this way works (it's completly untested), any savegame created with an "unclean" install will remain broken.

[EDIT:] no, this won't work for this problem

This should prevent issues with a new XTC-game (in Steam), however, for a savegame done after the 3.1.1 patch the harm is already done and it will remain broken. Hopefully you own earlier saves ;)

X2-Eliah - I thought so as well, looks like steam proved us wrong, they actually patched stuff _into_ 13.cat

Just for confirmation, there was no maps/x3-universe.pck in 13.cat before, right?

Not a whole lot of changes and they didn't add anything to it ...

More probably they simply replaced the 13.cat/dat with a new one.

There is a maps/x3-universe.pck in 13.cat/dat of version 3.1, as some map changes were made in this version.

Are there any plans to make this compatible with the new Steam DLC without having to disable it?

two quick and (hopefully) simple questions for ya:

1, how does one disable autopilot docking? I've some rater large ships planned, and I'd like to be able to sat that they can't dock at stations.

2, I'm working on making my own ships XTC-friendly, but I cant get the big engine flames to show up. do I need a dummy object for the flam itself? or does it just need fx_engine_emitter? (I'm sure other folks will want to know this too, for if/when they get around to making compatible versions.)

You need a special dummy for the flames, you could take a look at the scene files in our ships to see how they are set-up. ;)

The engine emitter will give you the race-specific exhaust trail & flare, but not the engine flame.

Hmm, I tried to ged rid of the combat freezing by taking a clean 3.0 install, patching to 3.1, installing XTM 1.2a, adding those two hotfixes and MARS and my game still crashes in combat. It seems I am cursed :-(

just a MD-file, but that explains it more detailed:

However, your procedure for creating a non-Steam-install out of a Steam-install should work, if one adds that fix.

@plynak with "combat crashes" do you mean you have still bailing crashes or does that happen while just shooting stuff ?

MARS for player owned ships should be no problem, you might need to turn off XTC Turrets AL if you want it to properly run on npc ships - not sure ... the new MARS version already includes an XTC weapon definiton file so the patch (if thats only the weapon data, not reading the MARS thread) should no longer be needed

to disable autopilot docking, you need to add a "check" script to the docking commands and place an additional check in the ES file !move.movetostation

Well that is hard to tell. When I jump to a combat, e.g. defend a sector against pirates, the game sooner or later crashes with a sound loop (really annoying one). But in 90% of cases, I can switch back to game and after this, the game never crashes again. It only freezes occasionally, but does not crash. That of course lasts only till I exit and run it again. I will try to turn the XTC turrets AL and see. I can also try to remove the patch laser data file for MARS.

You are not alone. I have a brand new PC, yet when I encounter Khaak M6 or even in a normal heavy battle, the FPS drop to crawl.

My PC isent that great but i noticed in new horizons there was a battle with multiple khak M6's and my FPS went down noticeably but i assumed it was due to the amount of hostiles.

I havent had a chance to even start XTC for awhile but are you telling me that the steam versions simply wont start? or will it crash? is there a fix out yet for it?

Hey guys Iam new to using mods and scripts entirely. I have 3.1 and XTC 1.2a with hotfix installed.

I also have the STO 1.57 installed.

Are there more usefull scripts I should consider installing for a better XTC experience?

I read alot about ADS and MARS and stuff, are they compatible?

Another question I have. I like to play as some kind of pirate, there the 2 ALs that Xtended brings enough? I mean Xtended Pirates and Yaki or should I consider install Pirate Guild 3 and Yaki Armada 2 for example. Are they even compatible?

What other scripts are compatible and usefull for fleet/station management, navigation or trading?

thx in advance.
