If your vague then it creates anxiety. Couldn't they be a little bit more specific on the time frame like one week, two weeks, three weeks etc?
They must have some sort of project scheduling.

Also are you guys allowed to tell the SECRET size of the download?
Like is it 30 mb(somebody rumoured it to be) or 200mb download?

That's all part of Egosoft's evil plan. The more people whos heads explode while waiting, the less strain the servers will be under when it's time for all the people who are still alive to download it.

The more I ponder the new sectors the more excited I get. What makes Elysium of Light special is pretty obvious, but there's a whole bunch of different station concepts that could make Senator’s Badlands an interesting place to visit.

theres not going to be an actual release date until they know it will definatly be ready.

otherwise, if they give a date, and something happen to delay it, even for a for days, there will be lots of ppl complaining that its not out on time and that egosoft never keep thier promises, etc etc.

Surely with all the good messages and words of praise it would be safe... I mean, would people really say those things about egosoft? No one ever has before, why would they start now? [/sarcasm]

Will this patch include something like the police or military responding to invasions? It is a bit strange how xenon/khaaks can take over a sector and pulverise everythin that comes through without any race doing much about it? Cant wait for this BTW! Thanks very much again.

it happened when 1.3 patch came out.
and it wasn't even delayed. They said it would be out before christmas, it came out on the 23rd, but that didn't stop everyone complaining expecting it to be out earlier.

the same thing also happened at release of X3, so it does happen. ppl cant get quite annoy if you give a date then dont deleiver.

Certus, unlikly, but you can add a script to your game to do jsut that

I don't know why they even tell us about it in advance... with the headache that it must cause CBJ in particular, the temptation must be great to just deliver it when it's finished.

Which is exactly what's going to happen. Because, unlike the initial release, there's no Publisher saying 'NOW!' to rush anything along.

And you're told ahead of time just to prepare you for the change. But their smart enough not to set a specific date now. That would be very unwise if something major was found broken and had to be fixed.

Consider these details:

1) They designed a station for players to use as a Headquarters, with various and usefull functions.
2) They designed several new ships
3) They had to balance those ships so their not too uber.
4) They created a plot mission to allow the player to acquire the ships and station
5) They had to work the code of the plot until it did what it was supposed to do, and nothing it wasn't
6) They created several new BBS missions for the player to experience.

Remember when they announced this patch. Up until that time, they had been working on another project. That project went on hold while 2.0 was developed.

They were smart enough to say it'd be ready in the 4th Quarter. So they DID set a deadline, just not a strict one. One that allows flexibility depending on how things were going.

They do this for their very loyal fanbase. A fanbase that's willing to beat up other people who nay say the X Universe.

And, their doing it for FREE. Try that with most other game developers. They COULD have charge a small fee for it. And you know what, MOST of us would have gladly paid it. :D

And because it's free, their not bound by any strict time line to deliver. Their free to work on it till they Get It Right™.

And no matter what cajoling, kissing up, complaining, whining or gnashing of teeth can make them work any faster.

And I'll bet, just BET, that many of you sit in front of your computers with the browser on the download page, constantly refreshing, hoping to be the first one to download it. And probably have been doing it for a month.

Then there are those of you who come in here and ask about this, that and the other. Please, people, read the first post. And also understand, if the OP doesn't have the information, you're not likely to get many answers beyond that. So relax. Have a Truffle. :D

Hopefully, you'll enjoy it when it's delivered. I know I will. :D

I doubt most people would pay, I sure wouldent. My money would only go of full expansion packs, I dislike it when a "Bethesda" is pulled.

The fact that this is all free is what makes me remain a fan of Egosoft and willing to purchace expansions/sequals. If it wasnt and they charged for a content patch.... well, I doubt I would be such a fan any more.

I just hope that it would come just before the weekend. Then ill propably play the whole week end straight trough. Mmm... 48+ hours of pure x3 (going to need lots of coffee and other caffeine riched goods). I still can smhell the best trades although in 3x, locations are bit more predictable than in x2 but it hasn't slown me down.

Boron M3+

Post by snyderm »

Am I to understand from the new update posting that there is no new Boron ship?

Come on, no love for the boron?

Nobody likes the little aquatic buddies?

Where's the love, Egosoft? Where?

You get the mission from the Boron so youll have enough interactions with them

Besides, there is no time to make news ships for all the races, so if people are complaining about the Boron they would be complaining about somthing else ( Where is the new Yaki ship? ) and so on

Patches

Post by Amadeus-Kai »

I'd like to know, will there be multiple versions of the patch? Or will we have to update to 1.4.03, then patch to 2.0.01?
Sometimes the trouble with being a troubleshooter is that trouble shoots back. :)

Yeah, i wondered about the same thing myself. I for one would much prefer 1.0 -> 2.0 rather than 1.0->1.3->1.4->1.4.03->02 (for example)
