As I said, please report that here: http://www.thexuniverse.com/threads/204 ... hout-cause

:) Also - good that you noticed it happened just as a ship blew up - please write that, and if you remember, the approx distance, and any other factors you remember ;)

Any way of distinguishing between the two before getting hit? These seemed to be normal scouts, not even fighters.
What difficulty did you set in the config menu? Last I recall, those were enabled for X-Treme difficulty (and possibly hard too..).

Only differences i can see are significantly less energy/shot for alpha specials and a purple/blue beam (RGB 128,0,255) for specials, white for standard. Everything else appears identical.

Difficulty level is normal, didn't touch any settings in there.

Another weird thing: I found a guy in a station offering me a Manta for 81k credits. I currently have 115k, but keep getting the message "not enough credits"???

Some weapon sounds are ridiculous. From which vintage arcade game did you dig up these sounds. I was laughing up loudly when I heard this symphony of firing sounds from the Teladi falcon wing attacking Xenon P. PeewPeewPeew. Way too 8-bit .
I thought to myself - WTF Atari 800XL returns

You're, like trick already said, running into the fact, that the ships were reworked. The M7 class stayed almost the same, the rest of the ships got a little better. So, yes, if you face some M6 in your M7, they will be able to do some damage. This is XTC, and having a M7 does not mean that you're the king of any battle field ;)

You have chosen a double bladed start. You were given a shiny big ship, but you start like every other player, with the same trade and fight ranks. Your task should be to raise your reputation and fighting ranks, in whichever way you choose to. The missions will consider which shiptype you're bringing in, but if your rep and ranks are too low, the NPC will rate your ability to kill something so low, that they think you need a M7 to destroy a M5 ;) With a M7, you may loose time, and it will take you longer to raise your rep and ranks due to the fact that you're flying so slow. If you have trouble with this, sell the M7 and buy yourself a suitable fighter for your playstyle. Of course, you'll still need the rep to do so ;) But you will be given 31 million credits. After a while, they recognise that you have a M7 at hand. They look at your property, so you will get bigger targets.

If the explosion blasts are annoying, switch them off. Go to the AL plugin menu and switch them off. Problem solved. Your M5 takes also damage from a blast, you're just faster than your M7, which has to take the hit. In your M5, you're quicker and out of range, when the blast is happening.
I realize the m7 isent an uber ship is really just a supped up corvette but a m7 shouldent run from a m6 and a m4. I would never dream of taking on a m7 in a m6 because the weapon/shield difference is huge.

I agree that under normal circumstances, a one-vs-one between an M7 and M6 should have the M7 coming out as the victor easily; however, if the M6 being used is designed specifically for offense and the M7 is a support ship, it could argued that it makes more sense for the M6 to come on top.

If you need some normal weapon sounds, I suggest Freespace 2 SCP, it's open source and has a lot of good weapon sounds:

I spent my first few hours in XTC universe:) And I love it:)
Finaly loosing shields doesnt mean you are imediatelly dead-I miss repair laser-never used in vanilla, but right now I need to repair my M4:)
Bombers are much more chalenge now. If you can focus on one of them and only on one of them, you can kill them easily:) but with a little distraction from other ship you are blow to dust:)
And finally-best of all-I spent about half hour fighting cerberus in my fully upgraded elite and I actually loose:) Hurray:) fights are much more chalenge right now. Attacking ship which is two classes above you is finally deadly (and very funy-during this encounter I used everything as cover: jumpgate (too small, so I run). enemy ships (bombers ooa (out of amunition) are best:) and finally roids (What was my surprise when my cover was blown to pieces).
I have to thank whole team again.

And now one question: How can I disable that annoying old shipcomputer saying old sector names? setting "vebose computer or someting like that" to "no" didnt help.
I use steam version of the game.
Thank you in advance for ansver:)

That's an issue with non-English X3 installations, unfortunately...

At the moment, no good way around it, short of reinstalling the game in full English mode.

I mean old ship computer:) thats the problem-I fly into sirius prime and it tells me some other name (whichever sector was in that place in old universe). Its just small thing-but it sometimes spoils atmosphere:)

and on contrary-I like new ship computer. I didnt expect you will have time and will to make even this tiny things:)

EDIT:
I have game in full english-or at least I suppose there is no difference between US and GB versions.

Could someone activate my account (same name) on TXU? The email never got sent and I can't find any way to contact people there

Isn't the headquarters supposed to be a shipyard? I made it in the Paranid start but the shipyard control centre thingy just says "No licences" :/ ETA: Nevermind, it seems it just takes a bit of time to register.

Audio options - set voice to 0% to kill all vanilla voices, all or nothing unfortunately but at least it's consistent. Might want to switch subs on too

How did you put the new ship computer voice in the game? Apparently you haven't overwritten the old sound files.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.
