Wrong they don't spawn in the pirate bases, they spawn outside. PB are empty.
Thats exaclty what i said, since when does "in the vicinity of a pirate base" equate to in a pirate base?

Well with the 1.2.1 update overall the game looks damn nice & I havn't had any issues really. As far as performance well I run the game at 1280 x 1024 & dont even notice any kind of hickups what so ever, weird as some of you with even stronger system overall then me seem to have fps issues.

system specs

Asus a8n sli delux mobo
Athlon 64 3200+
1gb corsair c2 512x2 duel channel
120gb sata 8mb buffer x 2
Bfg 7800gtx oc 256mb pci-e
SB audigy 2 zs
19" viewsonic LCD with 4ms response
7.1 surround sound
& tears in my eye when I see the visuals in this game :S lol

Perhaps it's your computer. Mine has crashed only when the last patch came and screwed some of my save files.

I quit playing X3 because there are no combat missions available and it's nice to see that you are fixing it but in 2 months after it was released it is a little ludicrous to see it taking this long to fix. I have been off for a month and that makes we wish I would have waited to buy this when it hit the bargin bin because all it is doing is collection dust. I am certainly uninsipred to purchase any another product from egosoft and many other people I have spoken to just wont buy it until these simple mistakes are fixed.

Last thing here on my rant is I want to ask why it took so friggin long to come out with this info on this patch? I understand you are busy and want to make a quality product but wake up the game was a let down out of the box and these fixes shouldn't take this long nor should any info regarding fixing it. I hate to say this and believe me I do hate saying this because I want this to be a good game, but I fear this game is going to turn into another Vampire Bloodlines where after a few patches the company just drops the game. I understand the developer went under and that certainly doesn't seem the case here but the overall experience I have had with the game sucks (putting it mildly).
i guess you didn't c the notice about the patch being delayed in november then ?

Some of you are pretty dense, Egosoft has yet to abandon any of their games, but then again you new players wouldn't know that. Despite the bad release, Egosoft will continue to support X3, they are not going to abandon it.

A came across this the other day which may help:

http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee ... 2003246731

4th post down:

1 ) Install this:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
2 ) Start.. Programs... Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.1... Tools... Compatibility Administrator
3 ) At the bottom of the tree on the left is "custom database". Right click it, Create New... Application Fix.
4 ) Type in a name (say, the program name) and point it at the .exe of the program in question, and click next.
5 ) Choose "none" for operating system mode, and click next (you don't want any of the fixes on this page).
6 ) Choose "SingleProcAffinity" from the list and click next.
7 ) Click finish.
8 ) Click save and pick a name and location for the database.
9 ) Right click the database and pick "install".

I haven't tried it myself (still happy with a single core)

I have gained Karma and am happy now to wait, I have some new titles and X3 will rest up until Feb when I shall have another peek to see how development is going, until then I think I shall return to shadowing the off topic section when I should be working (much like Jerico!).

Good luck on the Patch Ego, look forward to the additional content!

@Darkmason: Thanks, I have already worked around the problem (assigning X3 to only one core). I just think the game should work without having to work around problems myself. :)

For all you dual-core problem seers...

I just got an AMD Dual Core myself, but am waiting for 1.3 to start playing X3 again.

I just wanted to point out two things:
a) Microsoft has a patch (KB) available for dual core fixes. It fixed my problems in Need for speed: most wanted
b) ATI's new 5.12 is also supposed to help dual cores.

Try those out. for (a), see http://psforums.station.sony.com/ps/boa ... e.id=53697

You'll have to find the patch yourself or ask MS for it.

Yes, and that was further explained because of the effort put in to rush out the 1.2.01 patch to correct the CTD when targetting bug. And to be honest Kayden, if they had posted something earlier about a 1.3 release date and for some reason they missed it due to lots of bug reports coming in increasing their workload you would probably just as quickly jump on them. I think in this case it was prudent for them to sit back, take in the bug reports and quietly work away at fixing them until they reached a point where they cut their losses and release 1.3, leaving lower priority bugs for a later patch.

I'm not too exited about this new patch. Sure it fixes some problems but the game needs a hell of a lot more work to be good.

The mouse intreface is a nightmare certainly if you are a stick player but even if you're not it's totaly counter intuitive. They will just need to start from sratch on that one.

Still no cockpits (and I don't mean the X2 ones)

actualy I can go on and on. Simply said. We have the engine, now give us the game.

Still i take my hat off to ya for getting things fixed which is more than can be said for some developers, lets all look forward to the patch an keep the beer flowing an a merry Xmas to one an all.
