As do the DiDs, but whatever, don't wanna be picky.

[Locksley Society harasses Pirates]

Welcome to X-News-Net. My name is Justin Freaks and I am your host.

Today was a bad day, at least for the pirates of Brennans Triumph. At about 1415 the "Locksley Societies" Cruiser "Will Scarlet", a pirate carrack class vessel itself, and several M4 and M3 suddenly opened fire on pirates and merchant escorts involved in a fight.
Using Ion Pulse Cannons and Ion Disruptors the Society, deemed a terrorist group by Argon officials for several attacks on Argon Naval Vessels, X-News-Net reported, quickly stripped all involved vessels of fighting capability a took the pilots into custody. While the merchants were send to the next friendly station alongside their ships and the pirates were shipped to the nearest military base in a mercury of unknown origin, all pirate vessels have been salvaged by the society.

While the merchants praise the Society heroes for saving their live and most of their belongings - despite frying shields and weapons of the freighters and escorts - Argon officials referred to the incident as an "act of propaganda, to disguise the true goal of the terrorist: the acquisition of new space craft to launch terrorist attacks on Argon space."

The "Locksley Society" demands the commonwealth to declare ion based non lethal weapons the only legal choice as means of self defense. Therefore, most Split and Paranid believe it to be funded by groups of the boron industrial complex. Both Boron and Argon representatives have always negated this claim.

Special Report - by Charlene Hudson

'Welcome and good morning to all those following the news this morning. This is Charlene Hudson doing a special report from X-News-Net.

Today in Sports: Teladi have been denied from entering the annual Commonwealth Sports because of consistent bribing. The Teladi have held up several protests outside the Commonwealth Sports HQ, demanding access, and also using the reasoning that they "never win anyway". One Teladi says this about the matter: "You knowsss issss not fair. We dessserve equalsss with the other nationsss." Will the Teladi gain entry to the Commonwealth Sports? Will these protests calm down?

Further in news: A Split mercenary has kidnapped a member of the Boron Royal Family. The Split deny all knowledge and responsibility for the kidnapping. The Split Familiy Whi have promised to use all their resources to find the missing member of the Royal Family, whilst the Boron claim to not have seen a single Sector Patrol or Police Squadron actually searching for the kidnapped Boron. Split General Maks Wel says: "Split mercenaries are not under Dynasty Control. They are free, roaming animals, and we can't do anything for or to stop them. Each Split Dynasty is accountable only for their own actions and unfortunately, mercenaries do not belong to any particular Dynasty. We really hope to find the lost sushi bar, but until then, we'll have to be as involved in finding it as you are."

Stay tuned for further updates. This is Charlene Hudson saying: if you see a naked walking fish in an empty Spacefly Station... you know what to do. Thank you for watching and gooood night.'

Good morning, I am Jensen Odees and today on X-News-Net we have breaking news following the Paranid war accusations. It seems the Paranid military forces have pushed their M1 "Divine Ascension" and M7 "Xaar's Pride" forward to pirate sector Split Fire. We have Anderson Ludovic transmitting from the sector.

Good morning, Jensen. As you can see behind the Paranid have spent the past three stazura's assualting this sector. The piles of debree shows how Pirate forces seemingly tried to mount a counterattack and boldly failed. We do also have reports however of damaged and even destroyed civilian ships. We all know Split Fire for some is the quickest way to move freight from East to West or West to East. The Paranid captain Ulockmanset has denied any intentional harm and said precisely "We never once, meant to attack the small two legs". "Small Two-legs" being a reference to Argon and Terran alike.

The Argon had released a statement saying should the civilian casualties continue to grow they will be forced to move fleet 014 down into that sector. We know that fleet 014 does contain one M1 carrier and also two M7 frigates. Although the Paranid would be outnumbered they have many times before proved that numbers mean little in their battles. I mean it is a large mess down here and no doubt the Paranid military here are starting to finish the job with less pirate activity coming through the gates now to defend their precious trade lanes.

I think this will however continue for the rest of the day and the doubt the Argon will enter a hostile state especially as in the long term they are outnumbered assisting the Boron forces defend themselves against the aggressive Split. It's back to you in the studio Jensen.

Well, this may be shameless self-promotion(related to my current DiD), but:

Ex-Pirate Clan Chief Proved Trustworthy!

Hello and welcome to Federation Newsnet! Our main story tonight involves Xanvié Arsha, the infamous head of the Farnham's Legend Corsairs- a Pirate group which recently attempted to steal eight prototype beam weapons from an Argon lab. As I'm sure you'll remember, all reports pointed to the Argon military destroying the raiders, but it seems this guy escaped- lasers and all! Now, he's back, but this time the victims are none other than the Xenon in Sector 472. Video captured by a military spysat shows the Carrack-class pirate frigate using unidentified weaponry to cut through swathes of Xenon ships, using exemplary tactics to outwit our machine foes and remove their foothold, which blocks - or rather blocked - a major trade route between the Argon and Split races. What makes this more amazing is that this guy apparently did the same to TWO other Xenon sectors, and the Boron are also watching him closely.
We have reports coming in that Mr. Arsha has been invited to Omicron Lyrea to negotiate an official pardon by the Argon government, and is headed there directly. So, is this all a ruse by a black-hearted Pirate to attack the Argon more easily or is it an honest bid for loyalty?

We'll find out soon, but now to a lighter topic: You've been Xenoned! The silliest things those robots have done! One of our favourite pictures is this one, sent by Boron Swien Luf:[ external image ] Guess what happened next, folks!...

Why, of course!
These news reports really are a good idea, since the removal of the bulletin board news articles in TC killed that little extra bit of 'life' ingame.

[Terrible Wake-Up Call]

Welcome to X-News-Net, my name is Justin Freaks and I'm your host.

Todays latest news come from boron space. In kingdoms end an Orca-Class Vessels Captain got a zapping wake-up call by a lone Kha'ak Cluster and unfortunately seems to have missed it. After the Kha'ak destroyed a lonesome fighter of the sector police, they started to round up the Orca, wich was in no Position to take out the swarming fighters with its automated defenses. The staff of the local equipment dock and some miners observed the dreadful scenario.

"It was like... seagulls pecking at a whale that lies on the beach." (Jeremy Romsfield, Miner)

Within a half an hour, the Kha'ak broke through the shields and finally destroyed the ship, before disappearing from the sector. What was left, was a huge chunk of debris and stunned locals.

"This is is a remote sector, we thought we were safe here. And now... THIS. It'll never be the same again!" (Loli Lo, Dock Worker)

Shortly after the incident got public attention, a small Wing of NNMC-Scouts entered the system. When asked about the reasons for this behavior, a Teladi replied:

"Go where the Kha'ak go. Lotsssss of Profitssss there."

On The Trail LIVE - Part I - by Dan Reaver

'This is Dan Reaver, undercover reporter, doin' On The Trail LIVE from Seizewell and we think we might have a lead on a notorious Teladi smuggling gang that have so far managed to escape authorities. A Teladi TS has just docked to the station that we think might be holding the "goods". HQ's told me not to engage until we get more evidence on the case. Split Gang leader Wat Da has just appeared on the scene and is holding a briefcase in his hand. Get the camera closer up... good. He's getting on the ship. We better go too. Go! Go! Go!

'Okay. We're on board our Buster and we're gonna try and trail the ship that just undocked from the station at a safe distance. They seem to be headed towards the South Gate - probably headed for Pirate Space - so we might want to use the Jumpdrive at any time we get spotted or attacked.

'Now let me jus' explain to you folks. We think these guys are part of a smuggling ring that transport hundreds of tons of Spaceweed every year into secure Argon environments. So far, Police have been unable to catch them red-handed, but we think we might have a lead on how and when they are transporting the goods. They might even be bribing the Police, there's no way we can know.

'Gate's comin' up ahead and we're gonna be out of comm. and signal range for a while. Keep up to date with our hunt for justice with our regular new flashes. This is Dan Reaver signing off and sayin': If you're gonna be a smuggler, make sure to use some air-freshener on board that ship... Good Night folks.'

[Boron Hostage Freed]

Welcome to X-News-Net, my name is Justin Freaks, an I am your host.

As confirmed by officials of both, the Argon Federation and the Kingdom of Boron, federal marines under command of Lieutenant Jane Shepard (name appears do be a pseudonym, as all further data is highly classified) boarded a split Tiger today at 1534 Standard Argon time.
The Vessel belonged to a mercenary group under lead of a split named Kor'Nak'Rak and had it's crew completely wiped out. The sole survivor was Bili Ga, member of the boron royal family, who was taken hostage several days ago.

Argon Admiral Miles Lacarce described the rescue-efforts as "an outstanding example of international cooperation of intelligence services and naval forces", while especially split suggest, the whole mission would've just been a propaganda-setup to discredit their politics and race.

The royal family announced a official acceptance speech as being held within the next week.

[Gate Control Revamps]

Hello, I am Jensen Odees and your watching X-News-Net, bring you the best and most important news the galxy has to offer.

We have recently had some breaking news from the Commonwealth Jump Gate Boarder Council. The plans to bring a revamped traffic lighting system has today been drawn up. We have the council leader and ambassador between the Split and Argon Cha't Hn't. Cha't Hn't what can you tell us about this?

Cha't Hn't - Yes, council have come terms over plan after recent frigate issue within Family Rhonkar. Panther frigate jumped through gate to meet oncoming Tiger frigate. Fortunately, Split life was not lost that day.

Jensen Odees - Is it true it's a traffic lighting system which is going to be put in place?

Cha't Hn't - Nothing is confirmed yet. Idea put forward by council to Commonwealth races, actually sensor feed system with gates. As ship comes within 10KM towards gate if sector on otherside mapped live feed of traffic there is granted.

Jensen Odees - How will this work with enemy sectors however?

Cha't Hn't - Argon Special Intelligence will mark unreadable navigation beacons. More discussed in next meeting however.

Jensen Odees - Thank you, very much Cha't Hn't. That was Cha't Hn't as you may notice Argon's perhaps most favoured Split who was raised within Argon territory specifically for his diplomatic skills.

[Ship-AIs just don't cut it]

Welcome today, this is X-News-Net, my name is Justin Freaks and I am your host.

Within the last hours several more or less spectacular incidents proved, what can be described within one sentence:

Ship-AIs just don't cut it.

At 14:28 Argon Standard Time
A Rapier collided with the Rimes Factory Alpha in Omicron Lyrae. The Ships AI was given an order to follow it's owner Balen Emioyn. Instead of doing so, it steered itself right into the Shields of said factory. Both owners, the ships and the stations, blame the incident to only be a fault of the AI and Navigational Systems programmed by Global Traffic Independet (GTI).

Only two hours later a bug in the AI of a Albatross-Class ship owned by the Green Corporation partly destroyed the Green Corp. Nostrop Center when deploying a Flower Farm that was to be added to the complex. The hub was damaged beyond repairs. Deconstruction will take a while, causing the Green Corporation losses in the ranks of millions and a severe Nostrop shortage in PTNI Head Quarters.

While Jareth Green, founder and head of Green Corp and well renown for his involvement in the latest construction boom around PTNI and Scale Plate Green just waves hand at the incident stating it to be a "negligible setback", the Teladi already check on the institution of legal proceedings against Global Traffic Independence.

GTI-Official Seth Black blamed both incidents on possible virus infections caused by careless use of Xtra-Net-Channels.

[Fireworks in Xenon Core 023]

Communications data-burst received from the unknown sector south and east of Gaian Star: To celebrate the birthday of the decorated hero of Operation Final Fury, Capt. Xol Ajei and his fleet led by Succubus, a Skirnir M7M Class vessel will be proceeding to Xenon Core 023 and launch a payload of 275 Shadow Missiles in the sector during this date and time: 768-05-26 23:59.

Everyone is invited to watch the spectacular pyrotechnics as Xenon fighters, capital ships and stations join in on the fireworks display. All spectators are required to arrive two hours prior for pre-flight cocktails aboard the Tyranny of Prometheus, Tyr M2 Class, which will be docked in the Grand Exchange Shipyard.

Afterwards, the fleet will proceed to the Freedom's Reach Bar and Lounge to chill out and relax. Booze and weed will be provided in abundance. And just in case anyone gets to miss the chance to enjoy the fireworks in Xenon Core 023, another flight will be arranged to Kha'ak Sector 926 should there be any shadow missiles left in the cargo bay of the Succubus.

Transmission Ends.

SciNet News Bulletin:

Ion Cannon Prototype Test Results Released!

We've all encountered the new Boron Ion Cannon weapon. A heavy laser designed to cause massive shield damage with a lower effectiveness against hull. However, the Boron Military Science division on Planet Boron have released data and videos showing that the weapon would originally have been far, far more deadly than that if not for a major flaw. An excerpt of the test report follows:

Our designs had been tested in atmospheric conditions and proved to be effective: the ion blast would hit its target from ten kilometres and dissipate, completely disabling any ships nearby. On planet, the atmosphere meant both the initial blast and the spread effect were considerably weakened so space testing was required.

In sector [CLASSIFIED DATA], we set up the test ship, the Ray BM2603 'Kingdom Pride' with a single Ion Cannon prototype. The target ships, a captured Split Python with 6Gj of shielding and several Split fighters at 500m, 1km, 1.5km and 2km, were placed around a point nine kilometres from the Ray. We remote fired the cannon at the Python from our specially shielded test station. Five seconds later, the ion blast hit the Split-built craft, instantly destroying all electronics onboard. Unfortunately, what happened next was not so good- the dissipating highly charged heavy ions from the weapon's explosion also knocked out all the other subject ships and continued to spread across the sector, damaging station systems and rendering all colony ships within 200 kilometres completely without power. The initial model was scrapped, and we developed the toned-down version currently in use. We have already recieved complaints from the Paranid, Argon and Teladi governments due to damage caused to several military and civilian ships caught in the blast.

Of course, the Split were the only race not affected by this- they aren't allowed in Boron territory! According to one Boron scientist we interviewed, the head researcher's only comment at the time was 'oops...'
