I bet that was actually a hint!!!

X4 will be Pizza Connection in space!
You are il Patrone using a run down cahoona burger bar to wash the money from your less legal activities.
However, the amount of money you can wash depends on the success of your facade so you need to train or hire pizza cooks, hire waitresses, and design new and exotic toppings!
Of course you need to "take care of" the competition as well. Being il Patrone you have a few more freedoms than the average businessman so icky living creatures finding their way into their products, unruly guests or explosive accidents - there are just so many options!
Of course there are, it's an X game after all...

Most of you don't even have the proper rigs to run X3. I know we all want X4 but 90% of people here won't be able to run it. That could be the reason why they haven't yet released X4 or even thought about releasing it.

P.S. I have superduper game rig so running X3 for me is not a problem. :P

Nah. It's an integrated pizza ordering system utilising the station BBS.

No more of that distraction of using the phone to call for a delivery - you know it makes sense!

Yeah.

Either, Egososoft's turnover has dropped so far that you can't even get some decent buffet & champagne for celebrating.

Or, your last pay negotiation round went well and you guys gut an upgrade from bread & water ...

That's not impossible with X3.

already exports live gamedata that you can view with a web browser so it's not too farfetched that a log parser watches an X3 logfile for a placed pizza order and transfers this data to an online ordering system.

Try Joey's. At least in Germany, they offer an online ordering service.

they have had almost 1000 years to terraform Aldrin, why are they all still sitting around a giant rock?

Oooo devious.

So let's recap-

-We have a mission director tool being developed, an early version of which has now been released for X3.

-We had a request (a long time ago) for ideas for possible future missions for X-games (specifically for an X3 expansion, but it's been 2 years now since X3 was released. A bit late for an expansion, perhaps?)

-We had an unexpected extra patch for X3 AND X2, both supposedly 'finished' games effectively proving Egosoft are still tinkering with the X games.

-We have an X4 webpage that seemingly exists but we don't have permission to view.

Anyone want to connect the dots? :)

How about X Theft Auto? A dumbed down X game for consoles :o .... Or a cross platform release?....

*Breaks down into tears*

Alot of devs & publishers seem to be heading that way nowadays :(

And we were asked what we would like in a multiplayer, non-MMO game.

@Moneybag - I don't know how true your statements are. For all we know, X4 may put *less* stress on the CPU, rather than more. And sub-100USD cards run X3 just fine; even the just-released Nvidia cards are just over 200USD, so that is even within reach. And memory/HD/Processor prices are always coming down. Hopefully having a reliable Internet connection will be more important...

awhile back, the post by silent witness got upgraded to Forum News, asking about if we'd luck modular ships, stations, planet landing, and what not.
Got a lot of votes that one, cant remember the results anymore.

It seems to me all those questions and polls are just devs' way to find out what the heck people are interested in.

Hopefully they are taking best ideas (from here and devnet) and thinking how they'll fit into the (next) game.

Will knowing what they are working on change anything?

Both games were only released in Germany, I believe...no English translation for them exists.

it could, generally if a new version of an older game is announced and it receives alot of comments, people generally will go out and pick up the previous versions to see what all the fuss is about, total annihlation received alot of that when supreme commander was announced, to name one example

and the old version would be X3 then?

not quite sure how can one comment on an announcement, considering no-one previewed whatever's next yet.... unless you are referring to that mystical "hype"

Ugh was definitely released for the Commodore 64 in the UK. I remember playing the demo for a few hours now and then. You played a caveman heli-taxi driver...

That could also mean that it's 100 % a marketing ploy to sell more X3 units while the next game is "in development"!

X4: Prey! =P
