How can I open the game files from VFS in Package Creator V1.30? I have set the XRM directory in the options: http://i.imgur.com/IWyqS8N.png

I'm unable to see anywhere an option to open files from the VFS...

in the Creator, press the New menu item, this will drop down a list of options, one of those is to Import ship from VFS, its directly under the option to Import ship from mod

Oh, I have to click on the button! I only searched in the menu for this. And the "File" menu doesn't got this option.
Sorry, I usually ignore colorful buttons in software tools because mostly they are for... less advanced users and the interesting stuff is in the menus. :wink:

You might also want to consider the spelling of some words: "Compatability" (correct: Compatibility), "Dependacies" (correct: Dependencies) and "Componants" (correct: Components).

im in the process of moving all the texts to an external file so they can work for multiple languages.

any errors will be corrected then.

Im sure theres lots more

Thanks for the new updates. :)

I had a short look at the Package Creator and noticed a couple of small bugs.

When importing ships from mods / from VFS, when you already saved one ship and import another one, the window of that ship will be empty until you minimize or maximize it. See this screenshot for reference.

When you right-click on an .xsp file and use the 'Extract Ship' or 'Extract Ship Here' option from the context menu, after the message for the successful file extraction is displayed and has been confirmed by me, I get the generic Windows Error Message that the Creator.exe wouldn't work anymore and that a solution is being searched for. So there seems to be a problem with ending the programme.
The same happens, when you use the 'Extract Ship' option and hit the 'Cancel' button, when being asked 'to select a path to extract the package to'.

I don't know, whether the following is intended or not: If the Package Creator is opened and you use the 'Extract Ship' or 'Extract Ship Here' option from the context menu, the xsp file is opened in the Package Creator instead.

this im looking into, i also had it happen to me a few minutes ago

not sure whats causing this, as it doesn't happen to me. Does the error message give any clues as to what caused the crash, or was it just the generic windows error?

And partly intended, partly a side effect. The extract options simply run the creator with certain command line arguments to do the extract. If you already have the creator open, it passes that into the opened one inside. Which results in it opening up in there

i will have a look at ignoring that when extracting files

Just the generic windows error with no further details. The extraction of the files went fine, as far as I can tell. I'm using the Package Creator Version 1.30 on Windows 7 SP1 64bit Prof.

New Version Available: 1.52
  • Fixed Finding Download of packages for multiple games (Didn't show when AP directory selected)
  • Adjusting loading of text files in creator (They are now loaded on demand rather than all in one go)
  • Ship Creator, Customise Ship, Default weapons now based on the primary game selected
  • Ship Creator, Customise Ship, Weapons list now scrollable when disabled (set to using defaults)
  • Ship Creator, Customise Ship, weapons list when using defaults will now show the default lasers checked (Not changedable)
  • Game Launcher, now resume the same plugin mananger that launched it (lite or advanced)
  • Game Launcher, added Advanced plugin manager to menu
  • Creator, Added "New" items to File menu (From Archive, Import from VFS, etc)
  • Creator, Fixed maxmising package form when importing ships.
  • Creator, ship values added to packager script (and pluginmanager.txt) when exported
  • Added Generated files when exporting to zip (TShips, TCockpit, Components, etc)
  • Extract/Export from file context menu no longer opens the file in the Creator if its already running
X2: let me know if its still crashing with extract/export, and ill create a debug version for you to test

The installer says it will install version 1.51 instead of 1.52. :wink:

I will now test the ship export to ZIP. Thanks for the new version! :)

Is it intentional that the Package Creator doesn't save a ship's entry from mov\000id.xml to get Betty say the name of it?

Voice isn't currently supported in the Plugin Manager.

its something thats planned for a future version however

Ok. :)

And this new version is working fine! When I export a ship to a ZIP file, now all relevant content is in the pluginmanager.txt. Thank you! There are still some ReadText problems left, but nothing substantial. :)

one of the readtext errors is from XRM, some ships use a null race value, so when it tries to display the race name, it shows up as a readtext because it doesn't match a valid race

I also had this with a ship (Centaur MK I) where the field "Package Name" contained only "{17,4111}" after importing a ship from VFS.
And in the ship selection list (when opening a ship from VFS) there are still some ReadText messages with XRM, but it isn't really a problem since I can identify a ship by its ID.

Updated to 1.53 from 1.47 and now getting

The procedure entry point ?clear@?$CLinkList@USStringList@Utils@@@@UAEX_N@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library spk.dll.
whenever I try to start the plugin manager, creator, explorer or xsp converter.

Attempted to do an uninstall/reinstall this time selecting to install the MSVC++ redist and doing a "repair", but sadly this doesn't seem to fix the error.

Am willing to provide more info if needed.

You could try running the installer in admin mode if its not already, most likely problem is that the spk.dll didn't update.

you could also try downloading the spkupdate

http://www.xpluginmanager.co.uk/SpkUpdater.exe

make sure none of the programs are running, as this will prevent the dll from being updated

EDIT: try downloading the full version again, i've reuploaded it, and it should work now
