Egosoft has created a sentient AI that can intelligently design expansions to the universe over an infinite amount of time.

Obviously.

Yes, they did.
Alas, it had to be bulldozed to make way for a hyperspace bypass.
My complete script download page. . . . . . I AM THE LAW!
There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Yes, it is pretty amazing. Its the most advanced AI ever. Actually, its not AI. It's AGI, like the Xenon, except the entire thing is sentient like you and me. Its incredible in principle.

That hyperspace bypass missed a bit though; it figured out how to replicate, rebuilt itself, and is now bent on figuring out how to wipe out the planet. :o

Sorry my mistake in june clearly means not at the first of june,
but still we could post questions we would like to be answered.

No planetary landing ha?

I have to say I am a little disappointed.

But very low orbit is okay too.
I agree X2 is the best X ever, and hey thinking about it there was a kind of planetary landing (in plot) and thats actually what i meant, I did now that it will not be possible to get your fighter to the ground an walk around.

I hope these large stations add a little more fun to space fights. Something like a canyon pursuit like ins *tarfighter.

Last I heard Deep Silver does have a panel in E3. There's nothing explicitly stating they will show off Rebirth there, but it's very probable.

Hi guys,

ok lets be a bit more precise about the capital ships then. Piloting a huge capital ship from the seat of the pilot is boring, therefore we left that out.

ON THE OTHER HAND: The player can own and can command ships and he can use them for a lot more different things than before. Stations as well as large ships have a lot more ways to interact with them now and your own as well as other factions ships are much more interesting to play with.

Instead of sitting in the cockpit you will assign people to command ships for you.
uh-huh, so it is confirmed that while we can own the capships we cannot fly them? Again this could mean that we have only one ship at our disposal. The one with glorious past, you know.

It has not been explicitly confirmed one way or another but I'd be surprised if you could only pilot one ship. Saying "you can no longer pilot Capitol ships" sort of suggests you can still pilot the other types...

Lets hope, that even if we can pilot our cap-ships, we can at least dock them.

I think it extremely unlikely as well. Removing other ships would go against the theme of every X game since X-Tension. It would also go against a few quotes:
We want to keep the sandbox-character of the game, a game where I set my own goals, where I can freely develop,
You can't really freely develop in one ship, now can you?

Here's another quote:
There are very big space stations with a huge number of ships, and rich life and a lot of details and our goal is to bring a certain credibility to that life, that you really have a universe where you experience a life of thousands or even millions of people that all have a daily life and when I do something with them, when I do missions, when I trade with them, when I build stations for them, then I change the universe. In the beginning I can do that on a very low level and later on I can do this to a higher extent.
I'll pick it apart peice by peice as it is fairly long.
There are very big space stations with a huge number of ships, and rich life and a lot of details
So, we know that there are a lot of ships. This could mean ship types, or actual numbers of ships. If it is the former, why have so many ship types if the player can't use em'? Also, "rich life and a lot of details". What's the purpose of having such technical details if you cannot explore them fully?
when I do missions, when I trade with them, when I build stations for them, then I change the universe. In the beginning I can do that on a very low level and later on I can do this to a higher extent.
So, this also implies a system where you can continue to develop, and develop, and develop until you have massive empire - that would be pretty hard to balance if you could only have one ship, wouldn't it?

In my opinion, it would make it much more difficult to make the game playable if you could only have one ship! They would have to balance it so it isn't too powerful early on, while still seeming plausable; hence, a smaller craft. Then, it would have to become an all-powerful ship that would go well beyond the role scope of any ship of that size while still being feasable in the universe. No, I think you can fly other ships. It only makes sense imo.

Although if we can't fly capital ships, I share everyone's sentiments - we better be able to dock with em'!

All I hope for (well, not all I hope for :D) is a more realistic docking system. For instance, I think its quite strange that you can fly straight at your capship only to suddenly, with *no* transit time, be docked and flying the ship (and vice-versa). You should be able to actually land/dock, and choose when to exit your ship - if you even want to! You may only want to dock to give you some time to recharge the batteries (in a literal and otherwise sense). If you leave, you assume your commander status on the bridge, etc; things like that.

Although it wouldn't be too good if another capital ship decides to blow out the hanger bay while you're still inside... :o

so today i finished (re-playing x3) my little empire with around a hub with 80 stations, lot of miners, traders all kinda escorts, assault fleet huge base and security, anything u can imagine!
being the ceo of the NIMC (new intergalactic mining corp) i earn so much intergalactic credits, i deceided in my free time to be one of my own taxi shuttle services
soon enough i picked about 60ish very nice and friendly alien passengers, who were promised a trip around the galaxy! initially the shuttle services are escorted by their own nova, however my nova escort deceided to eat crispy mars chips while he was entering docking procedures
it doesnt happen.. he died
about 5 passengers started to complain and while crossing some sectors their annoyances were so irritating, i accidently pushed the unfocused jump command, and accidently ejected all 5 in an unknown sector, before returning the inter-galactic promotional sightseeing trip! who knows what the next day will bring in space! hooray
from the NIMC corp, ceo CooCoo's log

Where do this "you can have just one ship" rumor come from, and what hast to do with the idea of not flying capital ships like if they were bigger fighters?

I don't have one clue. It doesn't make sense to me either; it might hae to do with the reply statement made at FedCon when someone asked whether "all ships [will have cockpits]", and the reply was such as that the question wasn't even close to having the right idea (at least, that was my understanding).
