Plugin Manager has royally screwed with my saves :(

Moved from HDD to SSD. Still running AP from the HDD. Been running for a while without using plugin manager.

Ran plugin manager and directed it back to the HDD. It also had in its memory SSD:/Egosoft (because I copied over to SSD then decided not to use it yet). Decide not to screw with anything, close it down, and load up AP like normal from HDD.

However, the saves are all jumbled up. Plugin Manager seemingly replaced every file on SSD with the identical saves. It replaced every save file in every location (C:Games E: Games E:My Documents/Egosoft and C:My documents) with the same 13 saves, from...somewhere, and they all have different times. IE: In C:Games all save files will be at 8:19 PM; E:Games will be at 8:20 PM; My Docs at 8:28 pm, etc. I, well, don't really understand what's goin on. It's like it pulled these saves out of no where, kind of like when you accidently download from the Cloud over more recent saves on your PC, except its done it 4 different places and they are all the same, just different time stamps.

Edit:

Found the problem.

I'm not sure where the game was pulling the saves from before this incident, but it is now pulling the saves from the SSD at C:My Documents/Egosoft/X3AP/save.

When I ran the plugin manager, it seems to have either: Changed where the game pulled its saves from; and seems also to have pulled the saves from E:/Games/Terran Conflict/addon/PluginManager/VANILLA and wrote those over every other save except for the ones in C:/Games/Egosoft/addon/PluginManager/Saves/Vanilla which happened to be my actual saves. These are also time stamped at 8:19 PM. Quite a strange happening.

The only save files that were completely untouched where the Documents saves in the harddrive.

I guess when I ran AP from my HDD, it went a head and moved the saves somewhere on my SSD, then when I ran Plugin Manager it said, "BAH THIS ISNT RIGHT NO THOSE GO HERE!BARGH!"

is there a problem with the plugin download? I can't download it.
It says website "temporarily" unavailable...is the problem on my end or on the website?

I have 3 different installs for my game. One is the base game from steam, one is a LUV install, and the third one is what I want to be a modded LU. When I open up the PM the location it automatically selects is the base game. How can I change it to the modded install?

Note they are in three separate locations
Base install is inside of stream
LUV is in C:\LUV
LU mod is in C:\LU Mod

Litcubes universe is not compatible with the plugin manager.
So the simple answer is not to try.

Is this 64-bit compatible?

Everything worked fine before I upgraded. X3 is running much better now. Plug-In Mgr. seems to install properly but won't run. I just get an error message that says "Program failed to initialize."

Hey Cycrow.

First Off... Thanks for all you've put into this, the X-Universe experience. I love the game, I've enjoyed playing with the mods, and I've enjoyed "cheating" and "not-cheating" when I play. Your tools and input have been a great boon to this community, and I've used your tools and others to teach myself to create some minor mods of my own for personal use. So, thank you very much!

Ok, enough Fan-boy type praise.

I can't get X Plugin Manager version 1.47 to run on my computer.
The dialog box claims I'm missing "unrar.dll".

I recently bought the X Superbox through Steam. I started playing X-BTF. Then thought I should install all the modding tools I've used in the past, just to be sure I have them (and I'm currently teaching myself to create ships for the game from scratch).
Superbox content on Steam requires a CD Key to be input into the Egosoft Forum. When used, the forum shows this key as X3-TC.
I'm able to download / activate Superbox content on Steam.
I look through it, and decide to install X Plugin Manager.
I use the Superbox Menu to start install.
X Plugin Manager installs and runs. I installed to D:/ drive. (I try to keep C:/ drive for Windows only stuff). During install I manually associate the X2, X3-R, and X3-TC install locations.
FirstRun, X Plugin Manager says there are updates (duh!) to 1.47. I update.
Apparently version 1.47 automatically installs to C:/ drive without giving any options for changing that. :(
Now I have both versions of X Plugin Manager installed... oh, wait, it's 3 versions. The Superbox release version on D:/, and then a "Lite" and an "advanced" version on C:/.
I can't run any of them. All 3 put out the same error: "The program can't start because unrar.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I try uninstalling, reinstalling, incremental computer restarts inbetween, being sure to install the Visual c++ redistributable that came with your install program....
Nothing helps.
I look into this "unrar.dll", and I'm starting to get the feeling that somebody replaced your "automatic update" file with something I don't want on my computer.
For now, I'm removing all instances of the X Plugin Manager program, reinstalling from the Superbox, and leaving it at that until I can get more info about this.
Hopefully you'll be able to point me in the right direction.

Again... thanks for all you've put into this community, and everyone else who has, as well (in case they read this). It's really helped this game Universe be a true joy for me; Lots of Fun and a great Learning tool.

PS: My Computer
Windows 8.1, 64-bit, Purchased May 2014, all up to date.
More info available, if needed.

---Edit---

Ok, I feel Silly now.
I used your link at the beginning of this thread to download the Version 1.40 (non-beta) of X Plugin Manager, and it seems to be working fine so far. It also allowed me to Choose the Install Path.
Well... Still, thanks for all your support in the X-Universe.

did you download and install the plugin manager seperatly, or did you do an auto update from the old version.

its possible that the update process missed some of the files.

i would suggest uninstalling it, downloading the latest version and reinstalling it, and see if that fixes it

reinstalling it from scratch should allow you to install it where ever you like. althou it doesn't really matter where its installed, it should work from anywhere

I've just downloaded the auto installer and tried installing the Plugin manager, but it crashes on startup.

I've used the manager before, but something just seems to be going wrong. I try to launch it from the created shortcuts and I immediately get "XPluginManager.exe has stopped working". No fanfare, no reports, no splashscreens, just a straight up cessation of the program.

I have installed it on a fresh install of a steam copy of Albion Prelude, no file modifications made. I've booted the game itself once to make sure the directory is there as it should be, and yet nothing.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

No luck so far.

I've downloaded the installer three times, installed & deleted over a dozen times, and I get the same result each time. All .exe files produce the same error message: Application failed to initialize. (0xc0000135)

The old X3/X2 plug-in mgr. v.2.12 works with no errors. That's all the clues I have so far.

After a full reinstall of the plugin and X3: Albion Prelude, it's a different error.
Unable to execute file:
...\X Plugin manager\XPluginManager.exe

CreateProcess Failed; code 740.
The requested operation requires elevation.
EDIT: Except it seems that error was a once-off, and I'm now getting the same error I did before.

if its crashing at startup, then its most likely a corrupt data file. Try deleting the pluginmanager.dat file from My Documents/Egosoft then run it again.

It will then create a new one to use and attempt to detect some game directories.

if it doesn't find them you'll need to add them again manually

I found my problem. Apparently it was a Windows update I was missing. And missing that update broke more than just the manager.

Really strange problem....

Post by Malakie »

Hi Cycrow..

I have a really strange problem that has come up. I recently updated my system and instead of using my manual installs of all the 'X' games, I went with the Steam versions I had also purchased this time around.

I installed the Plug in manager. I run it in advanced mode. I load it and add X2 and it loads and runs no problem. I do the same for X3 Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude. However when I try to add X3 The Threat, it will not work right.. It appears to add the game, the launch button changes. Except when you try to run the game, the plugin manager just crashes. When you reload, X3 The Threat is NOT listed although X2 and TC and Albion still appear and work fine. If I try to add X3 TT again, same result. It appears to add into the plugin manager but when I exit the program or try to run the actual game, PM just crashes.

I have completely uninstalled PM AND deleted all directories for it including the documents egosoft directory and clean installed again but same result...

Any ideas on this one??

UPDATE: Found the problem.. Apparently the uninstaller does not remove the directories WITHIN the game directories. Something must have been corrupt inside the X3 The Threat game directory. I came across it while troubleshooting and decided to delete everything manually.. Did so and now it is working properly...
Take it light.....
