Re: Problem with custom ships

So, my question... Is it possible to have more than 2 custom ships installed in the game?
No its not too many ships and yes you can have more than two installed.
I used to have almost all of Hawkbs BSG ships (maybe 20ish ships all up) installed and working well.

I take it your using the plugin manager? If so try asking your question here http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=121351

Save game files?? If so the plugin manager doesnt store saves.
Save game files are located in the documents and settings\egosoft\X3 subfolder

the plugin manager only stores saves if you enable profile manager

it stores them in the game directory, under Backup/Save

I've noticed one problem with this great tool.
I'm from Slovakia and we are using some non-english characters here (like ščžéľýáí and so on). When I try to install any plugin, which path contains one of these characters, I get an install error, "Unable to open package file". When I move plugin to some different location (without path containing one of those chars), plugin installs without problem.

I've downloaded your plugins package (both plugins and guilds) and installed it via this Plugin Manager (2.12). In manager, everything seems good (it says "Yes" for each plugin's Enabled and Profile), but when I run the game, everything is just the same. I have the script editor enabled in the game, so I can only guess that this has something to do with special characters problem I described in this post (my Windows username contains š, which means that the path to the X3 saves also contains one).

Am I right or is there something else I am missing?

got a weird problem.

i've installed my "cargo pod" and got that into the game, then i made a carrier for the cargo pods (sorta i-war style external pod docking), and installed it. and it shows up in the tships.txt in the pluginmanager.cat, but it wont show up in game to let me cheat it in? but the cargo pod does?
the cargo pod is called "cargo pod A" and the ship it called "Cargo Pod Carrier", so in theory they'd be right next to eachother, but the pod shows up, but the carrier is no where, not even a readtext or anything.

x-plugin manager backup location

Post by suntox »

i started using the x plugin manager and it made me worry a bit when i played with the profiles and some of my savegames disappeared after activating the vanilla profile. i did get them back, but i would like to know where exactly those backups are located that the manager creates. doesnt seem to be in the savegame path nor in the manager folder

hmm hehe I've not used the tool since back when there were 2 versions (script and ship)
I like the new version cycrow! but it's not importing any of my ships, or well ones I downloaded. #

They install fine and they are enabled.

I've tried to use the fix thats in the help section where you set it to extract to a dir which did not work.

installed just 1 ship to see if that would show up, but that didn't work either.

Scripts install fine though.

I have a similar problem as St_Evil. But I have found that starting a new game I can get the ships to show up (for a while!), if I reinit the script cache. They usually do dissapear on the the load of the next save game though.
However, I have found that a new ship I DL shows up all the time, so I think this is a difference in the packaging of the ship files i.e. the older .xsp files are not compatible with the new .xsp files BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE A MOD INSTALLED!!!!
I have XTM 7.4 and this does only occur with this Mod. If you start an Ego 2.5 game then the older .xsp files are ok.
I might be wrong on the .xsp extension but what ever the extension is for the ships in the 'Plugin Manager', then this is what I have found.

Was wondering that if I extract the OLD ship files using 'Plugin Manager', could I then re-package them and load them back into the game with any success? Just a thought.

the problem is related to the scripts used to add and remove ships from current games.

however, these have been improve in thel atest version which is currently being beta tested ;)
