I've been playing this mod and so far it has been very interesting, the AI definately is more powerful with the changes. However, I'm personally unsure of what, with the changes, certain weapons are for. I know from the youtube showcase movie what weapons like the gauss, PPC, PRG and ISR are supposed to be, but I'm wondering about the HEPT, PAC, EBC and other unmentioned guns. Did they just get a speed and range upgrade, and what are they useful against now?

Basically, I'm wondering this because I ditched every weapon but the PRG, EBC, PBG, IBL, FAA and CIG in vanilla since others were strictly inferior (didnt get into capital warfare). So what I'm asking is for some CM3 veterans to give me their impressions, or some more info like in the youtube flick.

X3 Editor by doubleshadow, Im doing something like you mention but for other weapons so it suits my needs.

You need to find the .cat and .dat file from CMOD, edit them and look for the TLasers.pck and TBullets.pck file

Then do the same with the vanilla which are still there (04.dat and 04.cat If I remember well)

and compare and adjust in the cmod ones or... make a new .dat .cat file (adding a number to your latest dat cat file in your x3tc dir) and add your own personal tlasers and tbullets, since the latest numbers overwrite previous configs.

X3 Editor by doubleshadow helps you make the changes.
XMod Manager by doubleshadow helps you manage cat, dat files and create new ones if necessary.

It's easier done than said, just make sure you back up and make copies and folders of your different changes to keep track of them and be able to go back if you end up with a mess.

For instance I returned Ion Shard Railgun to vanilla version with a few changes and a draining weapon energy effect, but even though Pirate Ospreys do not punch as hard as the Pirate Centaurs but they drain your weapon energy so its much harder now to take them down, more strategy and fun.

For the PBE's I delayed their rounds per minute speed by half and changed its effect a bit so having a swarm of Xenon shooting me wont take the framerate to 2fps and other things like that.

It can be fun once you get to modify them, just I wish I could preview the effects without having to load the game, its a pain to test, makes you apreciate much more CMOD work, that's for sure.

Does this mod or any of the mods listed on page 1 alter the Goner True Light Seeker?

EDIT: I guess it is improved ships mod. I forgot that was in there. Is that by the same author or should I contact someone else?

I obtained one through the plot missions and non of the turrets seem to fire.

This Mod is just great. Much more fun in fighting now. Also fun to watch your M7 frigates shredding flocks of fighters. Many thanks.

Does anyone noticed that when Ion Cannon hit anything - it cause a FPS drop ? I have a Boreas with forward 8 x Ion Cannon and when it hit, FPS go down, but when it miss - everything works fine.

I noticed that too, I just unmarked the "BEAM" effect on them and fps drop was gone and still Ion Cannons look pretty cool.

Since they were very fast I decreased their speed a bit. Now they are how a big weapon should be, deadly and a bit slow, but looking cool and no fps drop.

my save games showed version 2.0 and Cmod seemed to be working but 2.1 didnt so i verified game contents and it downloaded again only for it to be 2.1 with no cmod. I then reapplied cmod only to find that 2.1 again regressed to 2.0

CMOD is incompatable with 2.1 as 2.1 changes alot of T-Files... Youll have to wait for an update

I don't really know where else to post this, except as a PM to OP.

I have been getting a:

Not Found

The requested URL / was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request when to trying to go to http://www.thexuniverse.com all day, date = 6/10/2009 and i just tried again a few minutes ago and the site is still unavailable.

AFAIK TLasers and TBullets are not changed in 2.1

Im using CMOD with my 2.1 with no problems at all.

aslong as you dont install the improved ships plugins it should work ok
