hey paranoid... good read... but is it going to end soon ?? I've reread the chapters over and over again and was wondering if there was going to be an end ??
As much as i like ur masterpiece, it is becoming a pain as it never seems to end. The greatest stories written on here are Rogues series, Traders Tales , mossfoots novel and yours... but when will it end ??
It is very much character driven, and almost too many characters initially but i still found it enjoyable.
I'm no expert, just an average joe who loves the X series, and who will probably cop a lot of flak over this but not even the rogues series or traders tales was this long.
They were fantastic stories and yours is certainly up there with them but its becoming a yawn because there seems to be no ending.
Its only my opinion and u and others will probably take offence, but no story, no matter how good it is, is an open ended dialogue. I myself no longer read it as it still going on and on and on and on.
I am waiting for the finish so i can sit back and finally enjoy the books ( as this is probably 3 or 4 novels).
I am just someone who enjoys the work that people like yourself are able to produce... u are gifted as are others who are to produce such works. But there has to be an end!!!
I'd love to c other works of yours in the future, not just this never ending story. Please accept these views in the fashion in which they r given.

Much amused by your comments blazermick I actually agree The Reapers Passage very much needs to arrive at a reasonably - satisfying - conclusion in the not too distant future.

Hey paranoid. Muchly appreciated ur comments. I do agree that it should end appropriately without cutting the story short.
I've enjoyed ur story and it is certainly up there with my favourites as i've previously mentioned. Hopefully the ending will be at a level that the previous chapters were written as it is a very good story, so dont end it abruptly like many others have.
Looking forward to future stories that u create. Keep up the good work.

As for the workings towards an end, don't feel rush and force the plot along jumping to a ending, nothings worse than that, the readers will feel cheated imo.
Just let the various plotlines progress naturally towards a comclusion.
As for being off AFC4 now, well I think that's natural after it being smashed and remade, it's now nolonger what it was and that stage/setting can move on.
As with beechhead, yep it's a good setting, but I'm thinking that unknowingly The Devil is getting a bit too tied down there and he'll regret wasting so much time there when he eventually leaves Aladna Hill. But will he get back to the Base in Priest Pity or will the paranid take it back

I admit I would like to do a pdf when I am finished and would be very grateful for a proof reader at that time.
One of my earliest hopes was to have a finished piece I could look over as a whole and tidy up here and there so that it feels like a proper - consistent story - with a beginning a middle, and yes that all important end. I think the end of too many stories are just something that happens and leaves you very dissatisfied. Maybe that is why the story has stretched?
In some ways I had a firmer idea of how it was supposed to finish much earlier I even did a rough last page (what seems like ages ago) but new content has forced me to reconsider.
I have also played around in my head with splitting The Reapers Passage up so that it was in at least two parts. Part two would I imagine start around about the time of the replacement of AFC 4. I might still try to do this retrospectively as I feel myself their is a bit of a change in the treatment of the story around about this time.
Can't resist commenting on Keane and Beachhead. I don't think I'm giving much away when I say the Devil is looking for a way to break the cycle he is in even if it looks like the opposite at times, old dogs and new tricks! Beachhead offers interesting potential for this - what the effect of this will be for Purgatory and the Fallen Angels remains to be seen - in the end even being a pirate is just a job well maybe in the Devils case something of a vocation, but there is more to life than just robbing and killing people there is nothing like at least an illusion of some sort of imagined future security.

Wanted to cut it down a bit but it stretched even longer.
Arranged it around a bit, and removed a Few lines - honest - but I think I will just have to let it go lest it bloats any more.

In answer to Syndrome I wish I could say I was masterful at time management and could give others advice! Unfortunately its more like my life has gone awol which I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Plus I feel compelled to finish what I've started while I have the opportunity.
Fully understand how as a creative author on this forum you might not be reading my stuff as I hardly have time to read anyone else’s - for scribbling my own - plus The Reapers Passage is now rather long. I have recently been thinking about splitting it into two parts.
While the early Chapters are pretty small for Chapters I just didn't know what else to call an instalment. They used be about 5-7 WP pages at 12pts now more like 13+ but I'm not posting quite as often.

An extreme example being the last one (Ch 93) that one I will probably endeavour to lift more than a few words out of at some point.
