lol, I'm using Virtual Dub for encoding the videos in the first place. I tired cutting out the bits I didn't want before encoding but it just encoded the video. Never struck me to cut out the bits after encoding it

Better cut before encoding. Especially Muntiny vs. Le Baron: I've run the save twice and if I were you I'd cut at LEAST 10 min. On my rather mediocre maschine I had about 15 min not much movement anyways. Anyway, VDub is a powerful tool and with smart encoding you don't loose much quality. Looking forward to the next few battles. You're doing really great TJ

Seconded- you're doing great work here TJ.
This IS the first time anyone's attempted something like this for the X-series. The prototype, as awesome as it is, will always be inferior to the spin-offs - meaning that once all the kinks have been removed from the process (which I expect will be halfway through the round 1 matches) we'll be running pretty seamlessly, with only RL interference to worry about.
And then, for XFFII, mastery of the process plus an updated and tweaked rule set will create a REALLY good competition!

But it will be US who can say: We were there from the very beginning, we always belived in it and although it was tough, we never doubted a second that this will work AND happen! Any obstacle encountered was spotted and crushed below the boots of all the crews we sent to certain death during this ultimate challenge an X-Player can expirience and ... yadayadayada.
To cut a long story short: We will be the ones that will proudly say: We were one of the first 33!

My how the ego's have grown esp. Cpt.Jericho's.

So in that case it's good to be in the latter half of the Round 1 fights?Tenlar Scarflame wrote:...meaning that once all the kinks have been removed from the process (which I expect will be halfway through the round 1 matches) we'll be running pretty seamlessly...

For sure. With relatively small fleet numbers, too.Deadbeat_Spinn wrote:So in that case it's good to be in the latter half of the Round 1 fights?

@TS, Combined the two of us are fielding 42 ships (22/20, TS/DS respectively) which is the second smallest number of two fleets fighting (Phinixa/perkint is smaller at 36 and we're tied with Aro/Triaxx2 at 42) so.......hell yeah, maximum graphics TJ.

Looking at the combined numbers of ships in each of the Round 1 fights,
Mutiny vs. Le Baron: 287
Phinixa vs. perkint: 36
Spitzeuk vs. Cpt.Jericho: 118
Merdocharr vs. Killjaeden: 278
Gavrushka vs. Chaosimperator: 79
Spychotic vs. 007bradz: 92
EmperorJon vs. Alex Vanderbilt: 70
imperium3 vs. kalu: 442 <---TJ's comp is going to melt on this one
Stealth Hunter vs. X2-Eliah: 323 <---This one too
Olterin vs. stemardue: 56
GCU Grey Area vs. NUKLEAR-SLUG: 89
Sticks vs. Algoran: 72
xXxSamxXx vs. travisdh1: 62
Master of the Blade vs. ashkrowe: 49
Aro vs. Triaxx2: 42
Deadbeat_Spinn vs. Tenlar Scarflame: 42

This one may be tricky, too. It's the bullets that count. I had good frame rates until Mutinys and Le Barons ships met. When the battle began it started to be a slideshow.Deadbeat_Spinn wrote: Merdocharr vs. Killjaeden: 278

Agreed, fortunately there are only a handful of fights that have more than 100 ships in total for Round 1.Cpt.Jericho wrote:This one may be tricky, too. It's the bullets that count. I think think the match between Stealth Hunter and X2-Eliah will be more of a slideshow than the match between imperium3 and kalu because of the sheer number of fighters X2-Eliah is fielding (over twice the amount SH is bringing to the fight).

Well, Phinixa/perkint will be popping up right as I finish up my last exam.
That works out pretty well.

@ perkint:
Relax. I think you're gonna win this.
@ phinixia:
It's taking part in this that counts.
@ both:
I think this will interesting to watch, no matter who wins in the end.

Right, I'm going to record in a few hours time. As for the video of Mutiny vs Le Baron, I'm going to try to upload it tonight.
Oh and Deadbeat_Spinn, awesome sig
EDIT: Ok, results are up. As for the description of the battle, you'll have to wait for the video
