not really sure what to suggest, at a loss with the errors that you getting.

only thin i can suggest is uninstall the plugin manager
then manually delete it to make sure its completly clear.

also, in My Documents/Egosoft. There should be several .dat files for the plugin manager, delete those as well

then go into the game directory and delete the whole PluginManager directory

and delete any non offical fake patches

id suggest deleting 02 and upwards then let steam get the ones it needs again.

Thanks for the suggestions... but as stated these attempts were from a completely fresh install of everything. There were no files or instances of any kind of any associated programs before reinstallation.

Some additional info... I noticed something in the fix notes for the new version (1.44) about fixing a problem with ships affecting other ships or something. While trying this last time with 1.44, I installed a ship and spawned it in game and it showed up, I exited and installed a few more, opened and spawned them in game and they didn't show up, and the original ship then wouldn't show up either.

FYI...

Some more info...

I just uninstalled those other ships and left only the single ship that showed up initially, opened and spawned in game, and it still doesn't show up. Sounds like the other ships broke it, rather than some issue of ships not being able to be installed together / at the same time.

PM 1.44 + xsp's on X3AP

Post by Ook »

When installing ships that use built in models etc.. like a modified OWP, the xsp's install fine & show up correctly.

When installing ships that have there own models etc.. one of two things happens:

1: The PM crashes with a debug output similar to the one shown above.
2: The PM installs the ship ok, but the ship is invisible in game.

Numbers 1 & 2 dont happen when installing ships to X3TC.
Number 2 can be solved by simply installing the same ship in X3TC & X3AP, then the ship will show up correctly in X3AP.

could you check what versions are showing up in the About screen to make sure everything is installed as it should be

also, after installing a ship, could you export the file list for me.
also if you export your installed package list, and send me the contents of the PluginManager directory in the game.

also, when you say simlar error, do u mean it looks simlar, or that the contents of the error is simlar ?

without knowing all the texts thats in the error is difficult to see what error your getting

Edit: link to My Mod

Got to thinking about those 'conflicts' Are they 'conflicts' based on the presence of the same 'type' files, or is PM parsing them, like it can t-files? You know what feature requests are coming if it can parse... :P
should be fixed in 1.45

Sure! I'll try to do those things here very soon...

Also I apologize for being hard to understand sometimes... when I talk about similar errors or behavior I'm talking about tip offs that suggest it might be a problem with my memory. Though I'm not a programmer or ultra mega tech savvy, I am a really heavy user, and use a very large number of different programs very frequently every day, and I have not noticed any similar error messages or behavior (such as weird anomalies) that are tip-offs to bad memory. It's only a thing that happens with this one program, on this one subject (ships) and only with certain ships (I think).

Anyway... I'll be reporting the other stuff soon.

I do have one request, if it can be done. There are a few MD mission type mods showing up ( ) now, and it would ease things greatly if the PM could append the conversations.xml, one to another.

The author(s) (eldyranx3, specifically) state that they are compatible with others so long as you merge the conversations files. Be nice to have that built right into the PM...

The only catch there, is for eldyranx3 himself, he has already combined his missions into 1 conversations.xml, but the missions are modular. So if you were to install both of his AP-only missions it would basically be redundant. Wouldn't break anything, I figure.. :gruebel: Guess I could try it, and see if I blow something again.

But dillpickle released his TC plots for AP (know that is going to be a hit) so made me think of the appending ability.

Still working my way through setting up a multi-mod setup with the PM, and seeing what else I can get to trip up, so you haven't heard the last of me yet.. :P

The about window says:

After installing EA Nova & OWP, i tried to install the EA Hyperion.
At this point the list of installed packages failed to show the hyperion & i didnt get a message window telling me it was installed.
I then exported these lists:

Going through the procedure to add a ship, but then the list of installed packages failing to show the ship, even though there was no error message or message window telling me it was installed... to the error when closing, to the memory error when not... all the exact same that I've been experiencing.

i believe something failed in the installation of the hyperion it was only half added to the list causing the crash.

i will also add a debug log in 1.45 so i can see better whats going on

Here are links to the 3 ships, the EA Nova & EA Hyperion are ships i found (somewhere) online & converted to the new xsp format & edited for X3AP.
The OWP is a simple edit of the existing owp's in X3AP to allow more storage/ships etc..

Not exactly sure I understand what the PM is doing with the conversations.xml, but this is what I am seeing.

This was using eldryanx's Stealing Logi for the 1st mod.

PM ignores the conversations.xml in 02 AP.cat when combined with the 1st mod that adds a new conversations.xml, but merges the new one with itself, and places it at 0000-L044.xml (4176 lines) , and places a copy (?) of the new conversations.xml (2088 lines) in the t directory.

Adding Gate Too Far, left the same results in the t directory. They share a common conversations.xml (note)

Added in dillpickle's TC Plots for AP (fakepatch, as last) (entire thing inside SPK), and the PM doesn't appear to see THAT conversations.xml (inside .cat) at all.

T directory still has 0000-L044.xml (4176 lines), and conversations.xml (2088 lines).

Also, TC Plots has the following conflicts, which PM doesn't report at all:

gamestarts
Jobs

Those are just the 'types'. I never read or saw anything that said it would report things like map conflicts, etc, or not?

Edit: Another thing I found. Enhanced Briefings (kurush) has a 0003 t - file that conflicts with AP's in 02.cat, and there is an 0004 t-file in XRM's Part 2. PM takes the one from Enhanced Briefings and places it as 0005.( )

not sure whats going on with conversations, as it shouldn't be treated as a special file, and just installed like any other.
theres no merging yet for it.

for the conflict detections, its currently only Types files

ok i've uploaded a beta version of 1.45. It has a debug log enabled, so if you try to install a few ships, when one fails, send me a copy of the log.

it should be saved in My Documents/Egosoft/pluginmanager.log

http://cycrow.thexuniverse.us/Beta/XPlu ... r_Beta.exe

i did try to test the ships, but was unable to reproduce the error, it all worked fine for me

When I read this, I commented that it seemed like some great info, but I hadn't had time to try it until now.

I can confirm that the above quote is true for me as well and really seems to be a fix.... After a fresh install of TC, AP, and the PM, I installed the ships I wanted in TC first, and they showed up in game. Then after switching in the PM and installing the exact same ships to AP, those ships then fully showed up in game (no blank squares). :)

The only thing is that it can take a few times trying to install the ships. The problem with "going through the process and then nothing installs" is still frequent. Also... in TC, several of the ships that were successfully installed do show up as installed in the PM, but when in game, do not show up in the list to spawn.

I'm not really concerned though, because at the end of the day I was able to get the ships I wanted in game, so I'm a happy guy!

Thanks for the help!
