Why didn't you just install a fresh copy of windows the moment you got the laptop?Andyrids wrote:Sony laptop ... you know what these guys are like when you try and install drivers and stuff ! you have to either hack the system up or just wait for them to issue an update so to speak... I get an error with Package Explorer : "Entry Point not found"
[ external image ]
The v1.42 was installed first by your upgrade system. Then I downloaded the new installer and reinstall all, but no change.
My system : Win 7 Professional x64 SP1 French.

i did have a simlar problem with the creator, but managed to fix that
EDIT: seems like i had the wrong directory set for the compile so the wrong version was included. I've updated it now so if you download and install again it'll fix it

Thanks for your work Cycrow... we really appreciate it.
For me, I can confirm that this new version has fixed my problem of no longer being able to open the game. Now it opens every time.
However, I'm still having the "invisible ship" problem. Real shame... as awesome, enjoyable, helpful as are all of the different mods and scripts available out there, I would rather have custom ships than any of them.
My 2 cents...

Yes... I did a full clean install (registry deletes, etc.). When I installed some of the ships it even seemed to break the new plugin mgr... weird behavior. I would add a ship, try to add a second, but it wouldn't be added. Then when trying to delete the one it did add, it wouldn't delete / uninstall. Then the plugin mgr would randomly crash with a "referenced memory" error. I would have to close and reopen a few times, and it would be ok. No other similar occurrences with any other programs, so I don't think it's my system.Cycrow wrote:have you reinstalled all the ships u had to make sure thier models get installed properly ?
I haven't tried 1.43 yet, but I'm about to give it a go.

When I experienced the described, it was from a fresh install of both AP and the plugin mgr 1.42.Cycrow wrote:i would suggest removing the plugin manager data.
delete the pluginmanager directory in the TC/AP directories to makes sure a curropt file is not causing the problems
I wonder if the ship files themselves might have somehow been corrupted and break whatever works with them. Sounds pretty unlikely, but I'm not on that level of tech savy...
I'm about to try 1.43 with a fresh install of AP, the plugin mgr 1.43, and fresh ship files, and see if that makes any difference.

Hmmm... looking to be the same symptoms.
Here is a link to the error I'm getting when trying to install an .xsp

It seems to be with all of them now...Cycrow wrote:is that with all xsp files ?
could u get a screen shot with the details section open as well
also, which files are you trying to install so i can test them out
I tried to get a shot of "details" but two things prevent it.
1) Whatever GENIUS at windows who decided it would be a terrible idea to allow expanding or resizing an error window so that you could see or capture more details without scrolling through the report window for the rest of your life.
2) The fact that after a couple of seconds of the first error message, a general "stopped working" message appears and disallows access to the first error window.
Also getting a couple other types of errors when trying to install .xsp's. All kinds of different things, one being that after I select the file and view the "you are about to install these packages" message window, I click "install" and then nothing happens. The ships aren't installed. Other times it will cause an error that closes the program, and when I re-open, only one out of several of the ships were "installed" but then that one won't UN-install.
Seems to be only with ships. Other general mods seem to install and work fine in-game.
Anyway, here is the picture of what I could get.

those 2 error messages dont make alot of sense.
the first shoudln't really happen. The 2nd shouldn't even exist. Theres no where in the code that triggers that error message anymore.
the one thing i can think of if that some how the memory has become currupt causing the errors to show.
i would suggest running memtest to make sure ur memory is fine

Hehehehe.... hmmm crazy! That's really weird. Leave it to me to get errors that don't even exist.Cycrow wrote:those 2 error messages dont make alot of sense.

I tried memtest, but couldn't get it to work. Saw the text info on it's functioning, and I think it might be a little above my pay grade even if I could get it to work. The only thing I can say is that it's all the same mem and brand, it's Corsair, and that I haven't encountered any similar problems of any kind with any other software or general behavior. I'm sure it's still possible, though.
Man, really unfortunate...
