Remember that with Video Enhancement goggles you CAN zoom in more then once. All you have to do is press the key multiple times. This can be useful if you are watching a Xenon vs Commonwealth battle and you do not 'feel' like entering the fray for some odd reason. And as an added bonus...HOLD the zoom key and it will remain zoomed in and a few seconds AFTER you have released the zoom key, the view 'will' reset.

If you go exploring, don't fly around randomly for hours without docking somewhere or using insurance. That can lead to a bit of frustration if something unexpected happens

In Out-of-Sector combat, there is no ability to dodge. Hence, speed is irrevevant. The bigger ship always wins. Hence, for low attrition, you need the biggest ship you can get.

The biggest ship in the game* is the Osaka equipped with full banks of PSPs and SSCs.

*actually, the Tyr is bigger, but rather hard to get hold of. If you're only considering ships that can be bought, Osaka is number 1. Boreas is number 2, Phoenix number 3.

Don't ba afraid to pick the brains of the vetrans on the forums. They are full of info that can help your game reach it's potential. A lot of confusing stuff in this game. Just remember that thes guys are your friends and are usually more than happy to help a rookie.

Using scripts isn't cheating (well apart from the cheat script perhaps) and can add a lot to the game - hell there are some that might even get rolled into a bonus pack at some point.

Personally I cannot live without Commodity Logistics Software ... or CAG ... Turret Defence MkII is nice too and ooh, ooh, ooh ...

Yes, there is a UFO. No, there is nothing more to it. It's handy for mapping the universe if you have a fast enough spare ship to follow it though.
