For years now the Security Bypass System is sitting there, unused and teasing me. Also I vividly remember being able to steal ships docked in stations back in modded X2.
So what I envision are basically two things:
1. The ability to use the Security Bypass System on the Hangar Console to request a ship from internal storage and bringing it under your control, turning the station hostile in the process. Alternatively spawning a claimable ship equivalent to the "stolen one" outside the station, as if ejected.
2. The ability to get close to an occupied ship and spending a Security Bypass System to start an attack that has a chance to "expell" any occupants from a targeted ship after a certain time spent close (e.g. within 1km) to the target, turning it neutral and claimable in the process.
My modding credentials are pretty weak and concern mostly messing with the Morrowind Creation Kit back in the day and BATTLETECH jsons more recently.
Considering it hasn't been done before (to my knowledge), I'd like to ask the more experience members of the community: How hard do you think this would be to implement? Am I looking at a couple of hours restitching what's already there, or do I commit to writing my own code, if I am to commit to this idea?

It wouldn't make much sense to 'claim' a ship this way, but hacking to disable guns/turrets or making it much easier to board would be better outcomes for a mod like this imho. Also possibly more achievable?
