I bought an owl and tried it for automated mining, wasn't impressed, very slow. When watching it, it seems like it's spending a lot of time flying around some of the rocks in order to pick up the ones behind them. It also doesn't have any forward facing turrets, no main gun slots, and when there's a mobile drilling system mounted on a turret, it becomes extremely slow at turning, at least when controlled manually.

Will be trying Geochen Miners instead, hoping a group of them will be faster at mining.

Try Falcons homebased to a Pelican. You will have true mobile mining operation.

Hmm... i suppose to scale that idea up, with a TL, though the pirate one with 25 hangar capacity might be difficult to obtain...

And i imagine it'll cost a bit to add those 24k missing from the cargo bay.

I noticed you can use ships as dropoff if they have a transporter device... although dropoff doesn't seem to be working, regardless of whether i pick HQ or the TS, they just switch to idle when they're out of space.

This is a bug which will be fixed in a future update. When setting drop off points, your mining ship needs to have a transporter device. Even though the description says that either of ships should have the transporter, its integral that mining ship has the transporter device. Transporter device in drop off ship is optional. So make sure your miners have a transporter device !!!

I gave transporter to both the carrying and the miners, but they just don't deliver it. And as mentioned, they don't deliver to my HQ either if i pick that.

I set them to mine for homebase instead, that seems to work.

Spoiler
Show
Nividium 19, 15, 3
Ore 125, 122, 118, 118 ...
Silicon 122, 121, 109 ...
I was a bit amazed to find so many high yield rock in this secore that it made me wonder a few time if i should move my HQ there lol.

In AP i was using an atmospheric lifter with 5 falcon as mobile mining station, was working fairly well.
But looking at rogueys website, i think now the pirate kea will perform better lol.

Harmony of Perpetuity Beta is one of the RSL, or random sectors. Only about half of them are active in any game, being randomly chosen to be active or not. Same with the asteriods being randomly generated on first arrival in the sector I believe. I got incredibly lucky in my game, where I had 3 sectors next to each other, all of them with a HSAP, one of the RSL having an active gate into a 4th sector, so that entire area is going to be mine, might even kick out the Boron in the base sectors (Depths of silence, dark waters and shining currents being the three sectors)

How did you end up with 3 adjacent unclaimed sectors?

According to the universe map, it should be only 2 (Death of Silence Beta & Sanctuary of Darkness).

I meant 3 sectors that had a HSAP in them, that's what the depths of silence, dark waters and shining currents part was about, all 3 of them have HSAPs.

I have them three too, i don't think you need so much luck to get them, sanctuary of darkness look like a plot sector so i guess you will always have it no matter what.

Hello explorators,

Could anyone explain me how do you mine Nividium?

I tryed buy come Falcon Hauler (XL Cargo bay) and i cant mine nividium, just ore/silicion/ice.
(OFC i got all the software/and Ore collector)

Maybe i should get a MMNC Miner?

Thanks

If you can't mine nividium it's simply cause there is none around to be mined.

Not all sectors have it. It you have a big asteroid with nividium but still can't mine it around, try breaking it with a nuclear missile (Save before) and you should be able to mine then.

This is what i did:

Found 1 Nividium Asterod
Destroyed it with my nemesis (thx plot)
Got 2 Falcon Hauler with XL Cargo with all the software + Ore Collector
Positioned it on the same spot of destroyed Nividium asteroid
Ship Menu-> Special -> "Mine Minerals in the sector" and at this point, i can select only Ore ICE and Silicon

i did something wrong?

Thanks ^^

Nividium mining only works manually or if you install mining command software

Mini Mining Guide:

If you are looking forward to be a successful miner. FL has everything you need at your disposal.

1. Save up some credits (preferably about 7 million)
2. Buy a Pelican Miner TM from NMMC
3. Buy 2 Falcon Miner M3s from NMMC & equip them with transporter device

Aforementioned ships will cost around 7 million. Good thing is they come equipped with all necessary tools to mining.

4. Buy few Hornet missiles (to destroy asteroids) and load them in to your Nemesis (or any other M6 you have)
5. Blew up an asteroid in a safe sector using the hornet missiles
6. Command Falcon miners to "Automated Mining" with having them to drop off the mineral to the Pelican Miner (TM)

Profitsss !!!

Anybody tried to move an asteroid or a mine through gates and TOA?

I wanted to move one of those rich nividium asteroids you can get in the New sectors to my HQ sector but i'm not sure if i can push them with a tractor beam through a gate lol.

You can't move mines or asteroids to other sectors. You will have to use TS ships to move wares to/from them.

I don't suppose anyone has tried if the exploit/bug at the end of this thread (placing mine at exact same time as jumping) is in FL?

Normally thats not possible. If the super tractor mod is working with FL you could use that if you dont mind the modified game.

I'm thinking the issue i have with dropoff not working, is that they don't seem trigger until the cargo bay is completely full, so if it's not full, but there's not enough room for more ore in it, it'll just idle instead.
