UI Scale

Post by Maebius »

Hello there.

For those of us playing in 4K, will we be able to adjust the UI scale?

In X3-AP the letters are too small if playing at 4K, even on a 28" screen.... I have to play at non-native 2560/1440 resolution.

No, there will be no UI scaling, same as TC/AP

I just reduced my 4k-monitor to HD (I'm 63 and refuse to wear glasses for gaming). There is no difference in the graphics, only in the text.

Ah that's unfortunate, but don't mind too much.

Can we pause the game and give orders? (we couldn't in TC/AP)

There is a script command "activate SETA: %0", if that input is a speed factor, then we might have "bullet time" (e.g. SETA 0.1x). I really hope so.

I tried that as well, while it looked fine it played havoc with one of my other monitors which I use to monitor temps etc... :(
Guess I just gonna have to put this on the backburner for now...

The pixel map is from left up to right down. If you place the monitor monitor """ to the left side then if you mess with the right side monitors resolution, then you may avoid that "havoc". :D

As i don't like adjust resolution within the game, I don't like when a game force you to a certain monitor. When a game do not offer which display i want to play on makes me maaaad. :D

My monitors are setup like this:
Image
Number 1 being the one that monitors the temps etc.. (Yup, that's exactly how they setup in front of me as well :) )
It seems to be doing it in all resolutions except for the main monitors default (3840x2160)
Note: it doesn't effect Monitor 3 at all tho..
Note2: and the reason main screen is number 2 is cause I cannot seem to change it to 1 :P

Physical placement does not matter. If you use the monitor 1 only for monitoring and not much activity, then you should set it to primary and grab n drop to the left of the big one. Some dialogues will appear there time to time and if you play a game without display selection then that also will start on the no1
I don't like this as well but this is the way. Monitor 3 has to be lower than the main monitor. You have to get used to it.

For me the TV is the primary because The Crew 2 has no display selection. It is connected to the VGA. My "main monitor is a PC display which is connected to the motherboard and it is used in portrait mode. Browsing n such. All monitors set to their best, native res. Also both of them are 60fps. Playing games in borderless mode to avoid all the flickering. Some games won't confine mouse. ED is somewhat adopting to this borderless thingy. So only in menus will the mouse slide off from the player screen.
If a game is malfunctioning then the full screen mode is the worst anyway.
Use displayscreenmonitor interchangeable I don't know how to say it more specific..... Imaselfeducatedenglsihspeaker :D

I can assure you setting up multiple displays can be "problematic" at times.

My previous TV would only register as the left (i.e. main) display in any imaginable scenario (different monitor, second, third monitor, funky refresh rates HDMI/VGA/DP cables and so on).
As soon as I changed TV (it wasn't old or anything, but had no "settings" I could change), all was perfect and I could setup multiple screens as I pleased.

So I can understand our friend here having problems, that's PC temperament for you

Only Microsoft Flight simulator X was dare to use multiple monitors as you can detach and move in between multiple just like a Windows window. The only restriction you had is the frame rate had to be the same. Even resize parts worked. It was just like in some browsers when you press ALT to access standard window operations File/options/help... ...
Imagine that for X if we have 3 monitors. One for target view one for the main and one for the map or any other configuration. Some MFS X setups you can watch on youtube with "unlimited displays all placed to their physical locations. VR is lame in comparison :D

Monitor 1 is a cheap chinese 12inch screen (monitoring hardware), Monitor 2 is a 43inch 4K TV (Gaming/PC Stuff) and monitor 3 is a 23inch Viewsonic (Used for browsing etc while gaming)...
I used Displayfusion to set everything up how I wanted it and have had no trouble with it till now..
Mind you, I have never used any other resolution on number 2 except for the default 3840x2160 until now..
As for the left and right sides of my TV, the left side is for moving mouse to another computer, and the right side has a volume slider (hidden by default) so I cannot use them for monitor placement :)
Thanks for the comments tho, much appreciated
