I like her. She's well spoken, highly intelligent, and clearly passionate about her job. I've watched a few of her senate floor debates and she asks meaningful questions, doesn't waste time on irrelevant topics like "who did you donate money to?" etc., and she makes well reasoned arguments. I think she's going to go far in her career and hopefully inspires a new generation of politicians.BrasatoAlBarolo wrote: ↑Fri, 19. From outside, she looks like a woman fighting some right battles, passionate and clever and not as entitled as a lot of other female politicians we see around (of course, I'm refering to Italy in particular).

I don't think hints to white suprematism and winks to neo-nazis and people like that are "just random details which inadvertitely ended up in videos / pics". There's a large and expensive staff of experts carefully picking what to publish and what not.

Re: Trump
Trump has been dancing with white supremacists since before he took office. His campaign spent millions on data harvesting with Cambridge Analytica to learn what his base likes and play into it. I'll give him credit for being able to whip up the dimwitted, not that the bar was very high to begin with. He knows exactly what he's doing every time he fires off a quote from any of the pro-white conservatives that brutalized black people and then plays dumb when called on it.BrasatoAlBarolo wrote: ↑Fri, 19. I'm just a little relieved by the fact I'm on a videogame forum, so I'm still young too.
And about how serious is Trump with his tweets, I think he's pretty serious. That's how a lot of politicians do, recently: tell a huge nonsense, then unsay it with a "but" at the end. Like when he suggested to inject chlorine in the veins to prevent covid.

Compared to when she first took office, she's been keeping a rather low profile. I believe this is intentional because Trump's supporters lose their collective mind whenever she speaks. What I would do is, I'd unleash her in the last 2-3 weeks of October so that she can help with a final push to get young people to vote (typically they're less engaged than older folks).BrasatoAlBarolo wrote: ↑Fri, 19. Re: Trump
What the hell, I'm just going to call it right now. Some people are skeptical but I'm not: If Trump loses the suburbs in the battleground states, he cannot win. There simply aren't enough votes in rural areas, and the cities are turning more and more against him. Here's a quick read about this:
The 2018 results have thrown a wrench in the usual predictions. For example, Hillary won Virginia by a small margin but Republicans won the majority of House seats. I'm guessing that the shadow of Charlottesville still looms large over Virginia, and that might give Biden a bigger margin and perhaps one or two additional House seats.
LinkWith his law-and-order, tough-on-protesters rhetoric, Donald Trump is courting a suburban vote that might no longer exist.
[...]
But there is a clear window of opportunity: Trump remains popular in rural America, and he won the suburbs by 4 percentage points in 2016 — largely on the backs of non-college-educated whites.
[...]
The changing state of the urban-suburban relationship was on display not only in the gains that Democrats made in the midterm elections, but in the reaction this week of suburban swing district Democrats to Trump.

I think there's better than 50% odds that Biden takes the WH and democrats take the Senate and retain the House. Trumps only shot at winning is by vote suppression and voter intimidation - both of which he's already active on.

lol... Trump threatened to stop watching the NFL if players kneel during the anthem.
I find it hard to believe Trump would find an excuse not to watch TV. I also find it hard to believe the NFL would give a damn. lol

Re: Trump
Do you have the fortitude to admit that Robert E. Lee was more than what today's mob says he is? I call him honorable. Historically this is how he was remembered. If it was right to ruin him as a man it would have been done after the war by the people he fought against and it was not done then. That goes for any of the historical figures under threat now. There is more to them than what these modern left wing rage mobs want them to stand for to further their own agenda. It's your choice. You can join the circle jerk or be free of the mob. I won't deprive you of that choice or hold a grudge. I may still laugh at you as I have so recently at others here but that need not bother you as it certainly does not me.

Lexington, VA., August 5, 1869.
Shame the hillbillies couldn't honor the wishes of their lord and savior.Dear Sir--Absence from Lexington has prevented my receiving until to-day your letter of the 26th ult., inclosing an invitation from the Gettysburg Battle-field Memorial Association, to attend a meeting of the officers engaged in that battle at Gettysburg, for the purpose of marking upon the ground by enduring memorials of granite the positions and movements of the armies on the field. My engagements will not permit me to be present. I believe if there, I could not add anything material to the information existing on the subject. I think it wiser, moreover, not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavored to obliterate the marks of civil strife, to commit to oblivion the feelings engendered.
Very respectfully,
Your obedient servant,
R. E. Lee.

Re: Trump
At EU Parliament there's recently been (yesterday, I believe) a resolution condemning police brutality involved in George Floyd's death. It was a very generic resolution against racism, discrimination and hate. The vast majority of the Parliament voted in favour of the resolution, just two of the Italian parties voted against it: Lega and Fratelli d'Italia. They said the resolution was a direct attack to political parties which "think different on immigration", a direct attack to police forces and based on a "fake reality". Just yesterday belgian member of EU Parliament Ms. Hertzberger-Fofana was in tears telling her collegues about being victim of violence by belgian police while documenting their violence against two coloured boys during a routine check.Grim Lock wrote: ↑Sat, 20. ) but nearly of all them are white and nearly all of them vote PVV, the xenophobic party we have over here. Now we also have a saying "Zoals de waard is, vertrouwt hij zijn gasten", translation more or less: How a host is, is how much he trusts his guests. It's amazing how they expect certain standards they don't even pretend to uphold in the slightest
They are around 50% combined in polls in Italy. This is the most important reason for Italy to avoid in any way elections before natural end of terms.
